There are fours ways to reduce rents 1) Reduce demand by stopping new legal & illegal immigration 2) reduce demand by moving out illegal immigrants 3) Increase supply but building more , reduce permitting bureaucracy , creating financial incentives 4) increase supply by removing rent caps (many units are sitting empty ) #3 is being done (partially) & unfortunately it won't be sufficient , as demand is increasing as a faster pace

Market rate rents are stupid high because rent control doesn't work. This isn't rocket science. We all know it doesn't work. This is a decision you guys made. "We're going to crush the 20 year olds with sky high rents and make them subsidize the housing of people in their 70s." You knew this would happen... you see it happening... and you remain unwilling to fix the issue... and the issue is that rent control never works. Ever.

What the heck does that even mean? A “brief and sudden illness” really turns my stomach because if our Senate/gov’t cant be honest about the health of its colleagues, then how can we even believe them about the deaths of its colleagues?
