Mehdi Hasan is right: that is exactly why the islamists have co-opted Polanski’s Greens as their lightening rod (& Trojan Horse).
They know he provides an effective camouflage. And they know he is sufficiently craven and opportunistic to indulge them.
That is why today we see ‘Greens’ madly lining up to defend a regime that tortures and kills young girls for showing their hair or dancing, executes gays, worships death over life, and murders tens of thousands of young people simply for disagreeing with them.
Did anyone notice the new Green MP’s Maiden speech to Parliament had nothing to do with the environment? Or that only 5% or so of the motions currently being debated by Green Members have anything to do with the environment?
So yes, the radical Islamists have played an absolute blinder.

My boy Shredder is getting very old. He's nearly 19, and after being a fat boy most of his life, he's getting bony now. Has early stage kidney failure, and some dementia. He's not entirely "gone in the mind," but he gets confused a lot, and wants to be near me or on me all the time.
So he gets whatever he wants now. I bring him food wherever he is, on my bed, on the couch. He gets a heated blanket wherever he wants it. If he wants the food on my plate, then he gets to share it with me. As long as he eats that's what matters.
I love him and it's sorrowful to know he won't be around much longer. I'm gonna love him up until then.

A new portrait of Chancellor Rachel Reeves has been unveiled.
It shows her preparing to deliver her first budget in October 2024 as the first female chancellor of the exchequer in the over 900 years the role has existed.
It is an oil painting by artist Sally Ward, and the Commons says she approached it "both a portrait and a history painting, showing an important moment in British political and parliamentary history".
Reeves says she is "deeply honoured" that it will be acquired by the Parliamentary Art Collection, and that she hopes it "serves as a reminder to every young woman and girl across the country that there should be no ceiling on their ambition".
It will be displayed in the Society of Women Artist’s summer exhibition in June, before its permanent hang in parliament's Portcullis House.
