The only learning loss students have experienced is the loss of learning through play, recess, and physical activity. This fall, let's get students moving again. It will not only help them academically, but with focus, regulating emotions, and just make them feel better!

I love this stuff. Many of us manufacture our own adversity.

And if you think this is obvious just Remember 25% of teachers (25%!) have reported they feel bullied by their admin and teachers out of all professions feel like their voice is not heard and their input is not valued.

I appreciate admin and districts who give teachers time to plan and collaborate DURING the school day. This is more important than most meetings. This shows they value teachers' time professionally and personally (evenings and weekend).

We talk about the importance of SEL & Maslow for students, yet schools are reducing or removing the Arts, music, PE, recess, play, etc. & students are basically confined to the same classroom all day. Imagine the anxiety, stress, & trauma this will cause.

@DrBradJohnson @TrojanStrength Said it for years. READ the SCIENTIFIC research that MATHEMATICALLY analyzed the data that says PA is so important to health and learning. Schools don’t want to apply science, just score it on tests

@DrBradJohnson Implementing "research-based practices" has the potential to improve test scores and thus satisfy the demands of district leaders. Recess and PE aren't on any state test, therefore most principals don't care about it.

@DrBradJohnson Over the years there has been a major shift towards athletics. Students do not have to take PE if they are in athletics. This has turned PE into a dumping ground of kids who have behavior issues and other problems. There is difference between PE and athletics

#truth and if the US followed many other countries with 45 minutes of learning and 15 minutes of play each hour-poof, a ton of add/adhd gone.

Our HS banned cell phones this year from the time school starts until the final bell. It’s the best thing ever. Students talk to each other at lunch. Teachers don’t have to make their own rules about phones in class. Can’t imagine going back. Even the kids get it. #nophoneschool

One thing coaches should do more of is point out people’s successes. Performing a new exercise for example. Point out something they did right or well FIRST then fix what needs fixing. This is an important step in building a solid coach-client rapport.

Things to teach our children: Hand shakes. A firm hand shake makes me want to trust you. Eye contact. Look at me when we interact. It shows Respect & Confidence. Grit. Do hard things; things will be hard. Get back up. Never Quit. I can tell who you are by these things.

So and so can’t work out because (insert....they’re tired from yesterday’s practice or they played a lot this weekend or they have a sore shoulder). 🙄 I’ll just leave this here.

Seven years ago, Victor Assaf was a top Crossfit athlete. On the way home from a competition, he got in a horrible motorcycle accident. His body was changed forever. His mind was not. This is Victor Assaf today

My grandma turned 97 today. When I called her to say Happy Birthday, she’d just come from exercise class. Wow. I’m feeling a little tired so I was going to skip my workout today, but off to lift I go.
