TE YPRR leaders by alignment (2025 season)

TB run defense ranks since Vea entered the league in 2018 EPA/play allowed: 2nd Success rate allowed: 2nd Vea also ranks 2nd in QB pressures from a NT alignment over that stretch (behind only Dexter Lawrence). A true run-defense anchor who can affect the QB as a pass rusher.

The Unique Front Six Personnel Groups in Nickel Family Defense 2025 Full Season 4-2 personnel with four roster position DL/Edge players is the standard, but some teams are implementing 5-1 and 3-3 groups as well. Note: This is not how players aligned on each play, but their true roster positions. Many 4-2 teams use an off-ball LB to create a 5-1 front structure. Brian Flores and the Vikings used 5-1 Nickel Family groups on more than 300 snaps in 2024 but moved away from that approach this past season. Data via @SumerSports

I wonder sometimes why tackles avoided (tackles avoided per touch) is not a more relied upon metric for evaluating RBs vs EPA. Lots of non-RB factors figure into EPA. This @SumerSports data basically reads best RBs in the NFL from right-to-left, more than top-to-bottom.

@Calhoun2rob Weeks 1-8: 46.5% MOF throw rate (12th) 0.56 EPA/play on those passes (1st) Biggest drop in efficiency among qualifying QBs from Weeks 1-8 to rest of season.

Rushing scheme diversity doesn't always lead to rushing success, but the Cowboys did a really good job last year of mixing up the concepts they used while having a very solid running game:
