@Summerizgone @socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e No they haven't, they've occupied it. However, they do have a right to self-determination: that right ends where the right of Palestinians to do so begins. I don't think resolving I-P means forcefully evicting Israelis tho. Want to actually address a point I've made now?

@Summerizgone @socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e No they werent, the point is its a bad argument. It doesnt matter who was first, it matters who makes their home there now. Islanders have a right to selfdetermination, and unanimously expressed it - to remain a British territory. Overriding that for irredentist claims is fascist

@socdemsam @oilcave @Cyb3rSh4e Did you know your same Labour party had soldiers decapitating Malayans to keep as trophies in the 50s? But keep going on about how your country is just an innocent victim.

@0zymandias22 @socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e Do you actually believe the Israelis were there first before the Palestinians lmao? They weren't. And neither were the British first on the Malvinas. Try again.

@Summerizgone @socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e You could try engaging with it? You think that the Zionist argument is to respect the right of self-determination of people living in a place? Your argument - we were here first - is the literal argument Israel uses against Palestinians.

@MuKuDk2 Because the islands originally belonged to Argentina. It was Maggie who decided to shed blood just to defend the honour of the British Empire.

@0zymandias22 @socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e How is your argument not fundamentally zionist? You are saying the British were right to steal the land from the Argentines just like the Israelis did to the Palestinians.

@Summerizgone @socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e Congrats, as well as being wrong, that's the exact argument Israel makes about Palestine. The islanders have a right to self-determination, and 100% of them have decided they don't want to be part of Argentina - undermining that and imposing your will by force is plainly fascist.

This post would be less retarded had it not specifically referenced Lenin's view of imperialism. How the fuck was Argentina "imperialist in traditional Leninist terms" during the Falkland War? These leftoids care about neither material reality nor even abstract theory.
laulukaskas@clockstiqqun

it's kind of insane how campists have so completely melted their brains that they think anti-imperialism is when the west loses, and thus support a war that is not only imperialist in traditional Leninist terms but just like, in all definitions, an expansionist land grab

@Summerizgone @socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e Idk man but i think ignoring anyone's rights is fascist. The point is that Zionist settlers, like Argentinian fascists, don't have a right to Palestinian land. Not that we're ignoring their rights. Quite simple really, if youre honest.

@Summerizgone @Cyb3rSh4e I don’t care how it was taken. Italy can’t just invade Britain because the Roman Empire used to control us. What matters is what the people living there currently want… and they don’t want to be Argentinian.

@Summerizgone @MrBenzite @Cyb3rSh4e isn't that how territory generally worked before the un charter? if you were stronger and could control the land, it was yours. should we demand gascony back because the french took advantage of english weakness to steal it back?

@socdemsam @Cyb3rSh4e Not really up to them to decide, seeing how it's not theirs in the first place. If your empire first took it by force then you can't cry when it's taken back by force.

@Summerizgone @Cyb3rSh4e This is what you Argentinians don’t understand… We don’t care about the rocks, we care about democracy & self-determination. The people living there don’t want to be forced to live under your failed state. That’s why we defend them.

@GeneralStones5 @Cyb3rSh4e No, they weren't the first to settle the islands. That was the French. Britain abandoned the islands and de-facto ceded them to Spain.

@MrBenzite @Cyb3rSh4e The French settled the islands before the Brits in 1764. They did abandon sovereignty (No, planting a flag does not count lol.) Spain had a stronger claim and complete control after the Brits left. That sovereignty was inherited by Argentina after Spanish collapse.

@Summerizgone @Cyb3rSh4e Wrong on every point. Britain claimed the islands in 1690 (first recorded landing), settled West Falkland in 1765, and never abandoned sovereignty, they left a plaque and flag in 1774 explicitly reserving rights during cost-cutting.

@MrBenzite @Cyb3rSh4e The British weren't the first to settle, never had complete control of the islands and had long abandoned their settlement. They opportunistically took advantage of the Spanish and Argentine weakness to steal something that never belonged to them.

@Summerizgone @Cyb3rSh4e That's a lie. Argentina had the islands for like 2 months in 1832 before their own mutiny. Britain had the claim for 140+ years prior.
