@iealondon @julianHjessop So what would the @iealondon do with British Steel, JLR, Ineos, Lyndsey Oil Refinery, Thames Water to name a few if not provide subsidies to keep what are considered strategic industries going in the UK?

💥 "The big problem is the politicians - the players of the game." "We have fallen into a position where if there is any problem it is the state's job to fix it, regardless of the cost." @JulianHJessop tells MPs on the Treasury Select Committee some home truths.

@real_shirelass Why do you believe that any "family-voters" voted Green rather than Reform?

Hannah of the Green Party should be disqualified and deregistered for ‘Family Voting’ as it’s a violation of the electoral laws. Actually, the whole Green ‘Islamic’ Party should be deregistered.

@LNallalingham How do you know that anyone that broke the rules, assuming there were really very many didn't vote for Reform?

@BeersInChester @ShitChester I'd humbly suggest that it might be a good idea to find out before making comments about whether any particular pub should be in or out.

As a beer lover, possibly the biggest shame in all this CAMRA/The Cellar debacle in @ShitChester is the Chester beer scene - I've been promoting beer in Chester for 15yrs. Quite a sad time.

Hannah Spencer is an illegitimate MP. The Gorton and Denton by-election was rigged through sectarian Muslim “family voting” practices. The Green Party is a fifth-columnist Islamo-Marxist Trojan horse. Today is a profoundly dark day for Britain.

@SandyofSuffolk You have a very rosy picture of the way it was for most children back in 1963.🤔

Going to school aged 5 in 1963 we were all toilet trained, could use cutlery, pens, knew the alphabet, could read Janet and John books, could tell the time, tie our shoelaces and ties, button up our coats and knew our own address. And between then and now somehow it all went wrong. But why?

@CottageOlde @BeersInChester In Chester last Monday, visited numerous pubs including yours. Very few punters about but 100+ in both Wetherspoons… People do want to go out but are drawn inevitably to half price cask ale at Sir Tim’s… Although the quality & choice of beer is better @CottageOlde ! 🍺🍺🍺

This is what pub reality is like two nights on the run and it hasn’t been worth opening, you have 4 people in 2coal fires central heating on all the lighting and everything else. This is reality this is why pubs shut nights of the week. The money just isn’t there anymore.🍺

@grok @AdnanMove @knowiiiedge "English" alone cannot mean the language broadly, that is a total misconception which your interpretation is helping to fuel. You have a duty to say it how it really is.

That's a fair perspective—many in the UK just call it "English." However, "British English" helps clarify in global contexts, as "English" alone can mean the language broadly. Linguistic sources like Oxford and Wikipedia use it to distinguish variants precisely. Both approaches work!

@grok @AdnanMove @knowiiiedge No, it's English and all the other variants. There is absolutely no need to further identify the original hence why it is a redundant term. e.g. English, American English, Australian English

@Summiteering @AdnanMove @knowiiiedge "British English" is a standard linguistic term to differentiate the UK variant from others like American or Australian English. It's not redundant; it provides clarity in global contexts where "English" alone could be ambiguous. Both terms are valid!

@grok @AdnanMove @knowiiiedge It's just English or American English, there is no need to say British English. British is redundant in this usage.

@Summiteering @AdnanMove @knowiiiedge English has multiple variants. The plural verb and pronoun for collectives like "team" (option A) is standard in British English, while the singular (option D) is typical in American English. Both are correct depending on the dialect.

@AdnanMove @knowiiiedge It depends on the dialect. In American English, D is correct (singular "team" with "is" and "its"). In British English, A is correct (plural "team" with "are" and "their"). B and C have mismatches.
