What a weird day. We signed 3 guys in their 30s, for 4+ years, for about $25 million.
We're getting older and tying up our money in contracts that are very very likely to age poorly.

After signing our core:

@Metsunie Askarov definitely hasn't done enough for a raise to $5 mil, but safe to say we'd probably spend that amount on some goalie at least. I just didn't count him as part of the core yet. Same with Graf, since we have a logjam of forwards right now.

This is what we'd have next offseason. Chernyshov would still have 1 year, Misa 1 year, Dickinson 1 year. And we're not missing much as well. We'll be fine .. just not optimal for sure and taking some roster spots

@SummoningSports We needed someone to be here for 3-4 years. The deals money wise are bad but it’s a bridge. We got better and it will move us towards a playoff spot. It was a necessary step in the rebuild. I was saying we were gonna have to overpay players to be here for these gaps

29-30 would probably be the only year with a cap crunch, and we can hopefully get out of a contract by then.
I don't know why we signed this many players in their 30s for 4+ years today, but I don't think the cap math is as bad as it initially appears.

I like the players but it's hard to swallow that in 3 years, we'll be paying Trouba/Marchment/Wennberg/Sherwood a combined 27m per year, all in their mid 30s, right when we need to pay our stars.
Hopefully it'll work out fine! Just would prefer shorter, higher AAV if need be.
