Sidartha Murjani - Executive Director, Senior Programmer, and Finalist Juror Sidartha Murjani (he/him) is a versatile filmmaker thriving as a screenwriter, director, and actor. His journey commenced with a scholarship to the esteemed acting program at @vfs, where he honed his craft. Murjani first gained recognition with "Coffee at Laundromat" (2016), earning him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The subsequent year, he was bestowed with the title of Emerging Talent of the Year in India at the @Pickurflick Indie Film Festival (2017). His works began to garner acclaim at Canadian Screen Award qualifying film festivals, with "Menage" (2016) winning Best Web Series and "The Interview" (2019-2020) securing multiple accolades, including Best Actor, Best Short Film, and Best Writing. In 2021, "Gratitude" earned him the award for Best Comedy. Most notably, in 2022, his film "Remnants" captivated a sold-out audience at the prestigious @VAFFvancouver, the oldest Asian film festival in Canada. Murjani infuses his films with a blend of entertainment and spiritual insights, influenced by his grandparents' belief that art is a form of spirituality. Committed to crafting narratives that evoke emotional resonance and provoke introspection, he continues to contribute to the transformative potential of visual storytelling.
