Manuel Aráoz. The guy who literally audits the biggest protocols. His words: "All DeFi is unsafe."
Reason: AI programming agents now have superhuman bug-finding capabilities. They find vulnerabilities faster than humans can patch them.
The numbers back him up. 121 DeFi hacks in 2026. $942M lost. 85 incidents in Q2 alone, $775M. The worst quarter ever.
After Anthropic dropped Claude Mythos on June 9, the attack rate spiked. Not a coincidence.
Here's the structural asymmetry: defenders must find and fix every bug. Attackers need one. One exploit path. One unguarded function. One misconfigured oracle.
AI agents tilt this asymmetry further. A human auditor takes days. An AI agent scans thousands of contracts in minutes.
The irony: AI was supposed to fix DeFi security. Instead it's breaking it.
But here's the counter-narrative nobody's running:
The same AI that finds bugs also finds alpha.
The same pattern recognition that spots vulnerabilities also spots market inefficiencies. The same speed advantage applies to trading as it does to exploiting.
