@MajorSSB FRLG doesn’t use a clock at all which is why ACE became nearly mandatory to perform most manipulations in those games. It’s actually why finding any manips took way longer to find than most other Pokémon games.

@MajorSSB RNG manips have players more directly altering the games’ starting conditions and seed finding variables. Or in FRLG, directly changing the RNG state with arbitrary code execution. A lot of Pokémon games use the system clock as a key variable.

what makes both sr shiny hunting & rng manips work? if you can time for a specific seed & frame, wouldnt you also be able to get the same seed/frame by soft resetting & mashing A as fast as possible? not consistently but sometimes? or do seeds act differently on soft resets?
