Came to terms and learned to live with the disappointment years ago but if there’s one day where it all comes back to haunt me…it’s NFL cut down day every season. It’s honestly become less about me and more about feeling for all the guys who go through the same heart break, coming so close to reaching their dream in life to having it ripped away without a moments notice or much sympathy from front office personnel. My own personal story was especially heartbreaking, playing for my hometown team and the details of how it went down, but that’s life and ultimately I’m proud of how I responded and didn’t let it define me. I also take pride in the fact that I got a second contract the next year by the team who ended up being the number one seed in the AFC playoffs. Ultimately I’m grateful for everything that I got to experience and gained perspective on how rare it is for a guy like me with one college offer to even make it that far. The man upstairs had bigger plans for my life to give back and coach the next generation of athletes, I have fulfilled that for the last 15 years and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

This original “I Dedicate Myself” sign dates back to the early 1960’s and was mounted by head coach Doug Schmidt at Harmon Field above the locker room door. Thousands of Miamisburg Football players hit this sign before laying it all on the line for our city. When Harmon became the pee wee field, a huge part of our program’s history was left behind and forgotten. We saved the original and will be casing it up to protect it forever and put it on display…while creating this replica to mount in our locker room for our players to hit before games. Huge thank you to Josh Bryant for the love and craftsmanship he put in to this. What makes it even more special is also unfortunate at the same time. Coach Doug Schmidt passed away on July 1st, 2025 in Pinehurst, North Carolina. He made a donation to our program in his name that we just received and very thankful for. His legacy lives on.

With Shemar Stewart under contract, the Bengals now can devote all their energy and attention to holdout Trey Hendrickson.

Even if Trey’s production falls off…they should look at it as a guaranteed two year investment in all the young defensive lineman in that position group. Trey can mentor those guys on being a great teammate and professional in every way. He epitomizes the type of guy you want in your locker room.
