@mcrandley @righttimebomani Sam Presti and RC Buford inarguably > small market GMs.
English

@righttimebomani You have no idea what you’re talking about. One of the top execs in the league and THE best small market gm.
English

@Dreskiii_ @elianoelite @FlankenBerry @KevinOConnor I’ve seen and forgotten more about basketball the last 40 years than you will ever dream about knowing. You got so much wrong in this tweet it’s actually impressive.

@SuperDopeHipHop @elianoelite @FlankenBerry @KevinOConnor The forward that yall wasn’t gonna pay, atleast you got value back instead of letting him walk so basically two firsts, for a center that averaged 17 and 13 while being second team all defense. Not so great? He is 3x the player that miles is. you casuals really hurt they sport🤦🏽♂️
English

It really is a brutal day for the Pacers. Tyrese Haliburton ruptures his Achilles in Game 7, a full season gets wasted, and no lottery luck at the end of it. Indiana still has a really good roster but #5, 2029 unprotected, and Mathurin for Zubac is ultimately an overpay.
Kevin Pritchard@PacersKev
I'm really sorry to all our fans. I own taking this risk. Surprised it came up 5th after this year. I thought we were due some luck. But please remember - this team deserved a starting center to compete with the best teams next year. We have always been resilient.
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp Why are you forgetting that we didnt even have our own 2026 FRP until 4 days before Hali ruptured his achilles? The fact our front office was able to get our own pick back just before finding out our team was having a gap year is a win.
English

Our own GM apologized, said “I didn’t think we’d get that unlucky” and said “Part of me feels like I let the organization down.” yet you have some Pacers fans trying to cope pretending it wasn’t poor asset management.
This isn’t rocket science I like Zubac (though I wish he was 26-28 next playoffs not 30 and he could shoot 3s) as an asset coming to us, but feel it’s clear as day it was bad asset management the way back not protecting yourself! Who drafted Mathurin and Walker #6/#7 again? Listen.
English

Mathurin and Walker 5th and 6th have under performed. Mathurin also has been lackluster in LA. He loses the trade. He isn't going to get the money he wanted, and this saved the pacers from overpaying.
The draft is good, but the top 4 were studs. We got the fifth. We converted that fith into a center that rebounds. Turner averaged 4 in the finales and got bullied. Zubak fixes that.
The other draft pick will likely project to be a late first (no big deal).
Is it a risky trade? It depends on how you look at it. The best draft pick we've had in the last several years has been Nembhard (a second rounder). Given our recent draft history, I'd rather have players ready to go than risk building in a draft that is weak at centers.
If the Pacers get back to last seasons level, LA will have ended up giving up Zubac for a 5th, a late first, and a guy they aren't going to resign (Mathurin)
English

Bottom line for Indiana from Zu’s biggest fan:
Zubac was an all-nba level player in 24-25, his team completely fell apart the next year + he played through ankle ligament damage he suffered in December. There’s very little to take away from this season.
Not a single big in the league can match versatility as both a post creator & play finisher at a legit all-defense level, while also being arguably the best rebounder & screener in the league.
Gonna be winning a lot of games in the next 3-5 years.
English

@nathanjacobs69 @threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp Ppl don’t seem to understand you can like the asset comin back (Zubac) while also thinking it was an over pay way too risky asset management going back! Our own GM apologized on twitter saying “I thought we’d have better luck.” AND “I feel like I let the organization down.”⬇️
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp 4/5 of our starters stretch the floor and Hali did just fine with richaun holmes as his center. Zu adds defense and rebounding, things we desperately needed.
English

That’s not all we gave up! We also gave up another unprotected 2029 first recent 6th pick in the draft who just had two finals games scoring 27/24 points, and another recent 1st round pick Isiah Jackson.
I like Zubac, but hate the asset management for a good not great center who is 30 when 2027 playoff start! Not protecting yourself more is🥴! Our own GM sent out a tweet apologizing while later saying “I feel like I let the Pacers down.”
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @elianoelite @FlankenBerry @KevinOConnor Bro that’s a great price for a center that averaged 17 and 13 while being second all nba defense. Did yall forget he was borderline all nba? No pick 5-9 will give even close to that value. They are win now stop acting like this a rebuilding team. Use your head.
English

“That was not doable w/ protecting this to 8, 9, 10 or whatever.”
Pacers fans wanted our 1st Top5 pick since 88!
We like Zubac, we know we need C, but OBJECTIVELY it was too risky overpay for a good not great C who is 30 next Playoffs! #6 pick Mathurin, recent 1st round pick I-Jax, 50-50 giving up 5th-9th pick in good 2026 draft (or 29 unprotected) AND 2031 unprotected!
The reality is we like the player, but did not like the asset management. If 29/31 (or 2026 even) top5 protected sure, but to not CYA is malpractice. @PacersKev apologized on twitter bc he thought we were “due for good luck.” and it was his fault for “risk”. We did too, but we also know you protect yourself for bad luck!
Why not wait until you see what happens during the draft?!? What if a player you love surprisingly falls to 5 or someone loves #5 that you don’t so you can trade it later for Zubac, Hartenstein (who in theory you could of tried to sign as well) or someone else?!?
Indiana Pacers@Pacers
Our President of Basketball Operations, Kevin Pritchard, spoke with the media after today’s Draft Lottery in Chicago.
English

@Daltin2010 @213Clipset @DimeDropperPod Impossible to know for sure, but Wilson/Acuff/Wagler are all intriguing for Pacers or for other teams to trade the pick.
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @213Clipset @DimeDropperPod Look at the landscape of the draft though.
Who would we have been taking at 5 that is going to be worth shifting our roster around for?
English

@ConnerGregorich @threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp I said he’s not a great fit for a fast paced team and I don’t like he can’t shoot 3s. I don’t understand what people don’t get. You can like a player and also think it was an objective risky overpay.
English

I meant risk with the ZERO protection on picks for a good not great player who will be 30 when 2027 playoffs start. Mathurin (our highest draft pick, #6, since 1988), + Isiah Jackson (recent 1st round pick) + 29/31 picks slightly protected (Top3/5/7) would of been way more fair.
To make those both unprotected (or instead of 2029 unprotected 50-60% chance to give away #5-9 in 2026) was just way too much risk imo for a good to very good player who is 30 when 2027 playoffs start not 26/27 heart of prime.
I like Zubac I think we objectively overpaid. Our GM apologized and said “I thought we were due some luck.” We did too KP, but that’s what protections are for!
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @FlankenBerry @KevinOConnor What’s the risk with Zubac? He’s a borderline top 10 center when healthy. With Haliburton feeding him, there should be no reason Zubac doesn’t get numbers close to his 24-2025 season. The only risk would be injury, but he doesn’t have a history of getting hurt often.
English

I said the fact he can’t shoot 3s and is not someone who runs court great is not ideal at all. I also think he helps our defense/rebounding/screen setting and half court offense. Again multiple things can be true. Zubac turns 30 next March before playoffs start not 25/26/27. It was way too risky period. The fact some of our fans are trying to cope and say otherwise with me on twitter is frustrating. We can like Zubac and agree we massively overpaid with way too much risk involved.
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp Ok so you didn’t mean fit cause you just said how he fits with the team.
English

“We had to though.” It’s called a negotiation and KP got out negotiated and it bit him/Pacers. He literally apologized and said I thought we’d have better luck and not lose the #5 pick. Just bc something didn’t happen doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been negotiated to happen better.
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp We had to though. Teams knew we were desperate for a center especially a really good starting calibre one.
English

He’s a great screener. I like it in the half-court. I like it for defense, rebounding, screening. Zubac is a good player I like him. I don’t like giving up our two highest draft picks since 1988 (#6 Mathurin and #5 in 2026 in what most are calling a Top5 draft of the last 25 yrs), 2029 unprotected + I-Jax (another recent #1) for a good not great player who is 30 when 2027 playoffs start. Two things can be true. I said from the get go it was too risky of an overpay especially knowing 2026 was a gap/bad year. I just wanted a little less risk
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp You said fit. You saying that his screening isn’t a great fit for Tyrese? Brother USE YOUR HEAD 😂
English

@FlankenBerry @KevinOConnor “They’d be trading #5 pick anyways.” So it’s still a valuable asset for Pacers to trade and get something else back of value or draft Wilson/Acuff/Wagler.
It’s okay to love our team, like Zubac, but be objective to say “We overpaid” with too much risk (and little protection).
English

@KevinOConnor They’d be trading 5 anyways if they kept it.
They weren’t overpaying Mathurin to resign him.
I swear ppl paid to watch sports can’t think objectively.
English

@threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp You/I’m allowed to like Zubac, but also agree we objectively overpaid by not protecting ourselves more. Two things can be true.
English

@SuperDopeHipHop @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp We have 31 now. Jackson is terrible and Mathurin is a FA this year.
They wouldn’t let us get Zubac unless it was only t4 protected
English

I’ve not read anything online about Zubac. I’ve been going to 30+ pacers games yearly center court row 9/11/13 since 87-88 Reggie Miller rookie year.
I live and breathe Pacers/Indiana/NCAA/NBA/HS basketball the last 40 yrs! It’s not rocket science to see we overpaid for Zubac who is a good player, but can’t shoot 3s and is not a great athlete. Two things can be true. You can like Zubac and also agree we gave up too much with too much risk.

English

@SuperDopeHipHop @threescorethor @the2kmessiah @PacersPostUp Great fit is hilarious 😂 you see one idiot say this online and run with it
