The Arcane Texas Fact of the Day: 160 years ago today, on April 1, 1866, Jesse Chisholm commenced his first cattle drive up the famous trail that would be named after him. Over the next 17 years, five million cattle and one million mustangs would follow. It was the largest human-led animal migration in world history. Here's an 1873 map showing that, within seven years, it was already being called the Chisholm Trail.
