A terminal cancer diagnosis has changed the arc of my career. I'm winding down the lab, but VERY excited to launch a fundraising campaign to raise money for young scholars to participate in the Research Society on Alcoholism Annual Meeting.

I would give (almost) anything to be studying in a coffee shop instead of at home.

Having worked several years as a doctor for people experiencing homelessness, I can say with certainty, that while medical care is important, what people really need is housing.

So much trauma and so much pain when people with no home have to move....some went to shelter and some to camp elsewhere. Please: if you see folks in a tent, instead of picking up the phone to complain, be kind and remember - we are all neighbours here. We are all doing our best.

Dear Health Organizations, Thanks for your expressions of ‘solidarity' online. But this isn't just a social media trend. Now, you must act through anti-racism, not tokenism. Be accountable through change, not performative allyship. Sincerely, BIPOC Health Workers Everywhere

Given that racism is literally killing people in our communities, it is alarming how little we talk about it in medicine. Race is a major determinant of health. Health is majorly determined by politics. Delivering anti-racist healthcare is a political act rooted in justice.
