Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the @TechConAfrica Conference, in Accra 🇬🇭 and it turned out to be a game-changing experience. As an entrepreneur incubating @SurfClubFinance in Ghana's vibrant tech community, attending this conference opened doors I never imagined. Walking into the conference, I met my friends and incredible founders (@Nataliiee_N and @_nixv) of @New_Comma and got into a bit of a catch up. This led to an unexpected delay which would end up being a blessing in disguise. As I walked into the panel session I scanned the room. Walking around back I saw a lady up front beckoning to me to come to the front. I sat down and greeted everyone who curiously asked what panel I was on. Panel?! I was here to listen. That’s when I realized I was sitting at the speaker table, surrounded by industry heavy hitters. I quickly got up to move seats but the lady who beckoned, asked me “why would you close any door that has been opened for you?” As fate would have it, she happened to be on the board of Stanbic Bank. Our conversation soon turned to the potential of fintech in Africa, and before I knew it, she connected me with the leads of their accelerator program. What I anticipated as an opportunity to make connections with fellow founders turned into a life-changing encounter. As I reflect on the conference I’m reminded of seizing opportunity and embracing unexpected encounters. Thankful to @bugfreemike and team who continue to push the envelope of what technology on the African continent looks like.
