Short breaks during operations might be good for us in all kind of ways and not even make the operating time any longer. Who takes deliberate breaks during a case? (with thanks to BBC R4 Just One Thing) #surgery @asgbi bit.ly/3IQpH2Z bit.ly/3iJqBUr

To all clinicians who perform procedures, we have tried to open up the taboo topic of #stagefright / #performance anxiety. Like pro musicians&athletes etc, it’s normal and we need to acknowledge & provide training/support. #surgery @RCSnews @SurgPerform

Interesting topic. I’ve always felt a small amount of performance anxiety helps keep surgeons out of trouble. Too much is unhealthy and should be compensated by senior/ partner support and mentorship. All surgeons should have a “Redline” , the boundaries of their expertise.

@SyedAAhmad5 Agree. Think of any performer going on stage or field - some adrenaline, some excitement keeps you on your game. Too little and you dial it in. Too much and you get stage fright.
