I have spent the past 19 years as an educator teaching students that their voice is their most powerful tool. Today, I’m excited to announce my candidacy for State Senate District 34 to lift up my voice, and the voice of so many others, who know that we can have ... (1)

Governor @AndyBeshearKY just beat Trump in federal court to protect AmeriCorps jobs and recover $7 million for our state. The @KYGOP stayed quiet while Trump tried to rob Kentucky blind. Choose Democratic leaders who fight for Kentucky.

The way her face says “the audacity of this red-state governor to disagree with us” is wild! This red-state elected a blue governor who’s leading the state to purple through his compassion, love, and authenticity! #thatsmygov

@RaiseYrVoiceKy You realize that the federal government has no power to say how states spend their money right?! We have our public schools protected in our constitution….as our state OVERWHELMINGLY chose. So try somewhere and someone else. ✌🏼

Amendment 2 failed due to lies perpetuated by the Council for Better Education, by the KEA, and by KyPolicy. They banded together to create a well-funded machine that lied to Kentuckians and manipulated them into voting no. Our tax dollars were used against us by schools, superintendents, unions, tax-payer funded organizations, and more. They were allowed to use our tax-funded resources to campaign, as well as news organizations that worked in concert with them to push the narrative and affirm the lies. Our Attorney General issued useless threats, and allowed districts to repeatedly break the law without consequence. This flagrant disregard for his authority has made a mockery of his office, and abetted the opposition's ability to illegally campaign. It’s one thing to lose a fair fight. It’s a whole other type of loss to lose against a machine that operates without morals and ethics. At least we can stand tall knowing we fought with integrity. Even though this is a disheartening blow, I want to thank our supporters. You all stepped up to the fight, and made a huge impact! Thank you for all you did to help the cause. I was honored to get to know you and to work along side you. I also want to thank the organizations that lead the fight on the front lines: Americans for Prosperity - Kentucky, Kentucky Parents for Choice The Commonwealth Policy Center Commonwealth Educational Opportunities The Family Foundation And anyone else who I may have missed. These organizations were massively helpful, and we would not have had such a great of an impact without them. Thank you all! This isn’t the end. We will continue to fight for Kentucky kids one way or another! And we will do it without misusing tax dollars. wdrb.com/news/politics/…

@Rutherford342 @KYGOP @KYSenateGOP @KYHouseGOP And maybe, just maybe, now they will let this mess go and realize that our state, the people who vote for these folks, do NOT want you to mess with our public schools! How many times we gonna have to do this?!

The future of public education is on the line in this election. Amendment 2 would take funding from the public schools that care about our kids and give it to corporations that care about their profits. Vote No on Amendment 2.

@DawsonMcke39855 @KYEducators None of that is true. Read the sections in the amendment. That is ALL literally lies! Blatant ones at that!!! Section 183 requires that the state fund public schools. A2 will make that bill and void. Open your eyes.

We’ve gotten a lot of questions regarding government overreach if Amendment 2 passes. Here is some info to help answer that: -Amendment 2 doesn’t create laws. It only removes restrictive language in our constitution. -Amendment 2 will NOT affect homeschool laws or regulations. That being said, it’s imperative that we understand the history for the need of the amendment. Our state legislators have been trying to implement school choice for years. They created charter school laws and education opportunity account (EOA) laws. Both were struck down by corrupt judges, who are likely influenced by teachers unions and special groups. The judges made up arbitrary excuses for why our constitution prevents them from being funded and operating in Kentucky. Since the judges ruled the funding unconstitutional, our legislators had no choice but to propose the Constitutional Amendment. If the Amendment passes, it will remove the restrictive language that the judge used to prevent us from having school choice options. With regard to government overreach, you can see what our legislators had in mind if you read through our current statutes. Charter schools are public schools. They would have government oversight. But EOAs are a totally different story. EOAs would be funded by private donations made to these accounts for tax dedications. The funds would then be distributed to low income students for their educational needs. The way the current statute is written, tuition would not be covered for students unless the school was in a county with a population over 90,000. Meaning the small town rural areas with private schools would not be able to receive the EOA funding. Within the laws of the EOA legislation, a very important statute was written. This statute clearly limits government overreach for any entity that receives the funds. “KRS141.520(3) An education service provider that accepts payment from an EOA pursuant to KRS 141.500 to 141.528 is not an agent of the state or federal government. KRS141.520(4) An education service provider shall not be required to alter its creed, practices, admissions policy, or curriculum in order to accept payments from an EOA.” From my understanding, this means that if a private school receives the funds for a student, the government could not dictate what they teach or what they do. It’s a separate pool of funds that have oversight from the IRS, and not from the KDE. Our legislators are committed to protecting liberty, while also supporting school choice options. Note: EOAs would not take a penny from public schools, since they’re privately funded. This debunks the myth that our tax dollars would go to private schools. Note: EOAs would be primarily given to low-income students. This debunks the myth that rich kids will get the funds. Disclaimer: While these laws are in place, if A2 passes, they would need to be amended and passed again due to outdated language. Bottom line, Amendment 2 is desperately needed, and would be a lifesaver to our state. Please educate your community members and encourage them to vote Yes on 2! Madison County high school teacher Susan Cintra wants parents of her to know why they should Vote NO on Ballot Amendment 2. With vouchers it will cut 169 teacher jobs and 19% of the county's budget, which means larger class sizes for every student. #protectourschoolsKY #VoteNOon2

@DawsonMcke39855 @KYEducators We care about public money being used for the PUBLIC and not special interest groups and the wealthy folks trying to privatize education and create more disparities. So tell yourself what you have to to sleep at night but you’re fight for yourself. Not the kids.

@SusanCintra @KYEducators If you really believed what you were saying, you wouldn’t feel the need to be condescending. The kids in KY deserve better than being in the lower half. We’re going to fight for them and make sure they get that opportunity. Those groups only care about controlling the money.

@DawsonMcke39855 @KYEducators Oh sweet girl…those aren’t deep pockets. Those are public service employees…teachers. Those groups listed there are funded by teachers. We are some of the lowest paid professionals and yet we donate to organizations that help us fight the deep, self-serving folks against our kids

@DawsonMcke39855 @KYEducators 😂😂😂 look at who’s funding that dudes campaign. He has a self-promoting agenda. We care about the 90% of kids in this state who attend public schools and have no deep pockets fighting for them.

@RootOutAbleism @KYEducators Are you a public educator? Clearly not. My county has one of the lowest overheads in the state. And we would lose 20 million from our budget which destroys opportunities for our kids. Not political propaganda…facts.
