No one is asking Downing Street to “support independence”. That’s not the issue. But if this is a voluntary union what is the mechanism for leaving ?

Lots of things can be true at once. Here's my best reckoning with the absurdity of the Murrell admissions this week. Firstly - he deserves for the book to be thrown at him for his sustained, cynical & indefensible breach of trust over a long period. White collar crime is serious.

Today the Scottish Parliament voted to request the powers to hold a referendum on independence. The UK government must now respect Scottish democracy and Scottish voters.

A sad day for the majority of Scots who believe in our people’s sovereignty & our inalienable right to an independent future. We have every right to feel scunnered, as the SNP has been duped by a sleekit, selfish man. That’s it though. No one can stop the march to independence

The former New Bedford Cinema on Eglinton Street in Glasgow. One of Glasgow's surprising number of Art Deco cinemas, it was designed by Lennox and McMath. When it opened in 1920, it seated 2,300 people. It closed as a cinema in 1973. #glasgow #architecture #oldcinema #artdeco

These are the 'bootlaces' or rhizomorphs of a honey fungus (Armillaria sp.) on an old Scots pine log on the Findhorn Hinterland today. These are the main part of the honey fungus, which breaks down dead wood, but the species can only be identified when its mushrooms appear.
