I teach IB Chemistry and high school chemistry, and I'm always interested in new ways to get my students to interact with and explore the science around them.

@MissKayTeaching Truth. I spent my entire Spring Break grading and lesson planning (first weekend evenings too) and spending the last weekend before we begin again tomorrow at a work conference.

A thought... Maybe me and my friend shouldn’t be spending our Saturdays in Starbucks doing work? Maybe we should be able to have a weekend like everyone else? In an ideal world, yes. But not for a teacher. Work-life balance is just not feasible at the moment:(

@IBchemmilam Student who has not done any work this grading period other than tests emails me the night before grades are due to tell me she is doing it all and ask if she can schedule a 1-on-1 Zoom meeting TONIGHT to go over "a few little things I don't understand" Spoiler alert: I said no😡

If any teachers need to vent, feel free to yell at me and I'll respond with something unusual and erratic.

Fun intro today—filled 6 types of objects in eggs & Ss had to id w/out talking who had the same objects. These became their lab groups. Groups collaborated& shared with the class what was unique about their sound & what properties of matter were useful. Can you match them?

My favorite family tradition is our monthly meal with all our DFW cousins. If everyone’s there, that’s 6 households and 22 people, including 11 kids, one dog, and of course frequently the addition of visiting out-of-town kin #CHSHome

So many of the techniques we already use for informal formative assessments can also be used to support linguistic learning #CISDESLBIL
