Is this the next big Supreme Court battle? The Supreme Court's recent decision in Trump v. Cook could tee up the next big fight on executive power, this time over the Federal Reserve. @ProfBrogdon explains the debate and why future courts may need to revisit the main question.

Policy papers may shape ideas, but podcasts and videos are often how those ideas actually reach people. Nic Dunn explains why think tanks cannot stop at thoughtful research. They also have to translate that work into content people will watch, understand, and know how to use. Nic Dunn is Vice President of Strategy and a Senior Fellow at the Sutherland Institute. 🚲 Look at this bike. The front tire is HUGE. The back tire is FLAT. And every four years, we all fight or all the marbles about who should ride it — yank left? Yank right? — instead of asking the most obvious question in the world: Why don't we just fix the tires? The Framers of the Constitution didn't give us one government. They gave us two — in a carefully designed partnership. "Few and defined" powers to the federal government. "Numerous and indefinite" powers reserved to the States. That's the tire pressure they built in. That's the balance that makes the bike actually work. When the federal government inflates beyond its constitutional size, it doesn't just make Washington heavier — it flattens everything underneath it. States stop acting like the "separate and independent sovereigns" the Constitution says they are. And we stop being citizens with real self-governing power close to home. The result? We put ALL our hope — and ALL our fear — into one national election every four years. Red King or Blue King. As if one rider could ever steer a broken bike to freedom. The Framers didn't design a monarchy. They designed a Compound Republic — and it's time we started riding it like one. Fix the structure. Most of the fighting stops on its own. 🔗 Learn more at iGovern.us📅 Join our class every Thursday at 6pm MT — learn how to be the "boss" the Framers meant for us to be: a principled, informed, servant-leader citizen. #StructureOverPolitics #NationalFederalismInitiative #FederalismMatters #StructureNotPolitics #NFI @utahhousereps @iGovernUS @UtahGOP @SLCountyGOP @BasedMikeLee @Hannesson84 @KevinDFreemanX @CSGWEST @KevenStratton @JasonEThompson @TenthAmendment @mises @Hillsdale

Recent Supreme Court decisions raise a fundamental constitutional question: Who controls the executive branch? @ProfBrogdon of @CCSUVU joins Sutherland's Bill Duncan to discuss who a president may legally fire, independent agencies, and why the Federal Reserve may become one of the Court's biggest constitutional battles.

The AI debate does not have to be trapped between panic and blind optimism. Nic Dunn argues that the right approach is to fully understand AI’s benefits, take legitimate concerns seriously, and build policy around evidence rather than fear. Data centers are not new, and claims that they will automatically destroy the economy or environment ignore how much of modern life already depends on them. Every president since George Washington has had the power to fire cabinet secretaries. @ProfBrogdon from @CCSUVU explains why, and how that factored into the recent Supreme Court decisions on executive power.

New from me in @DeseretOpinion: "Americans across the political spectrum — and here in Utah — recognize something essential: the American Dream is predicated on the promise that hard work can build a better life for your family, and our social welfare system still needs improvement to fully realize that vision for families stuck in poverty. Securing Utah, and America, as the land of opportunity for future generations requires thinking in aspirational terms. It’s more than simply “tinkering” with existing programs — it’s transforming a system that is well-intentioned, and has helped many families, but has yet to fully realize the aspirational intent of the war on poverty." @Deseret #utpol #poverty deseret.com/opinion/2026/0…

In this interview from Defending Ideas, @nicdunnutah speaks with @ProfBrogdon and Bill Duncan about the constitutional questions behind the case and why understanding constitutional structure leads to a much better understanding of the ruling.
