Y'all this semester was rough. I guess with 3 jobs and fulltime doc studies, it's a miracle I ever have time to write. Anyway, I finally jumped back into my editor's notes and finished reviewing B1. I think, I can call this draft... final? #amwriting #amediting #WritingCommunity

My stress levels have been through the roof for the last month or so, and I've been doing more reading than writing, and more work than both.

@righter_writer Yes! And I'm already writing book 3. I don't have the strength for developmental changes back in book 1. Plus, not to sound vain but I think my plot and characters are good. It was my sentences that needed some love and support 🤣

@SuzanneBooks I'm planning on doing the same. I think I can get by with my critique partners and beta readers instead of a developmental edit, but I want a new set of eyes for the copy edit!

I took a leap and hired a professional editor for my first book. Going through the tracked changes is a little overwhelming, but I'm over the moon at how much better my book is getting, and I really appreciate the little positive comments thrown in. #amediting #WritingCommunity

@VinceAdams19 I found her on @ReedsyHQ! I was able to send requests to couple different editors. She sent me a sample, and I was so impressed with her sample edit.

@readingtheline There are a few places where she let me know that I could add in some more description, but so much is just restructuring my sentences for better flow. ♥️

@SuzanneBooks That’s awesome!! What sort of changes or queries has your editor done that you find most helpful?

@writerscottcyre It wasn't so much getting over the price as getting into a position that I could afford the investment.

@LAThomasAuthor I have a couple friends/family that will read it again, but otherwise straight into querying.

@SuzanneBooks Will you have another round of betas after revising, or are you diving straight into querying?

@fedorak_shirley I've been very focused on keeping a growth mindset through the process. It's not about someone judging my work, it's about making my work the best it can be. That and the reassurance that I can reject a change if I don't agree with it have been immensely helpful. ♥️

@SuzanneBooks Thank goodness you understand professional editing. Take a deep breath and get started. I'm a professional editor as well as an author and I usually assume my clients hate me for the first few days after they receive their edited manuscripts. But they keep coming back.

@SuzanneBooks Man I wish I could do this but my main books settle between 175k-195k words. Would cost me a fortune to hire an editor xD

@LAThomasAuthor Well, when I finish going through the edits and final polishing, I'm going to (finally) sit my butt down and write a synopsis and query letter, and then start sending my baby out into the world. All while continuing editing on book 2 and finishing writing book 3 :)
