Guys, I’m an idiot. All this time I’ve spent trying not to die, I had toxic turf in my backyard. Artificial turf contains crumb rubber infill made from recycled tires, which leaches chemicals including PFAS, heavy metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These compounds are linked to hormone disruption, carcinogenicity, and systemic inflammation. I don’t know how I missed it. It makes me question my basic competence in life. What gets me is that I try so hard to survey the world of potential idiocy. Then I find out there’s a monument to idiocy sitting right in front of my face that I was blind to. I’m removing the turf, yet I’m still stuck with this seemingly unsolvable problem of how to not be an idiot.

Pam McVety of @PSRFlorida writes that rescinding the endangerment finding means "more extreme weather, more sea-level rise, more health problems and higher costs for pretty much everything – insurance, health care, electric bills, storm damage and more." theinvadingsea.com/2026/03/02/end…

Miami Waterkeeper Water Quality Monitoring Results- for bacteria called enterococci - if levels exceed 70 MPN , the site is marked as failing (red). Levels below 70 MPN indicate a passing status (green) avoid recreational marine water activities in areas testing in the red/pink!

Another FYI! Ft. Lauderdale is issuing a precautionary advisory to avoid water-related recreational activities in the Seminole River Canal and a portion of the ICW as a result of a wastewater discharge into the stormwater system following a break in a nearby 16" sewer force main.

🌊 WE WON — MANGROVES STAY 🌿 6,000+ signatures -40+ speakers. 8–0 vote. Broward Commission voted to keep the Dania mangroves protected as Environmentally Sensitive Lands. This was never nature vs. progress. In Broward, nature is infrastructure. Your voice mattered! Thank you🌳
