In his first term he was wondering if nuking a hurricane would stop the hurricane. During the 2016 campaign, he reportedly asked a foreign policy advisor three times why the U.S. could not use its nuclear arsenal. He stated on multiple occasions that he wanted to be "unpredictable" regarding his willingness to use nuclear weapons. Following his return to office in 2025, reports indicated that Trump instructed the Pentagon to prepare to resume live nuclear weapons tests for the first time since 1992. Reports emerged in 2019 that Trump had asked national security officials on several occasions if it would be possible to use nuclear bombs to stop hurricanes from reaching the U.S. coast. So yeah, dementia Don definitely has his grubby finger hovering over 'the button'. The USA is holding together by a thread, the citizens on edge as MAGA fractures. Two thirds of the country think he's doing a horrible job - he knows he's going to lose the mid-terms even if he cheats. He knows he's dying. He has NOTHING to lose and his narcissistic petulant ass doesn't give a fuck about taking you and everyone else with him. If he can't live, why should you? To understand Trump's next move, understand his psychology and current state of mind: Frontal Lobe Dementia (social inappropriateness, reduced empathy, loss of inhibitions, compulsive behaviors, and significant apathy) combined with megalomaniacal narcissism (combines extreme narcissism—an inflated sense of self-importance and lack of empathy—with delusional, grandiose fantasies of power and superiority. This behavior, often seen in malignant narcissism, involves dangerous, controlling, and manipulative actions aimed at exerting power over others) - that's not just a fucking powder keg waiting to explode, it's a fuse that is already lit.

ATTENTION! We are now leaving the Holocene. The stable climate that allowed human civilization to flourish is ending. Brace for impact.

I have not seen a single mainstream media outlet give this the attention it deserves. Israel blew up an entire Lebanese town, an ancient place. It should be headline news. There’s footage of it happening. Imagine this was your town, and you saw every building blown up by a terrorist army to prevent you from ever returning. You would at the very least expect wall to wall coverage. Instead it passes without a word. It’s not the only town Israel has blown up. And sadly it probably won’t be the last.

While the world focuses on the destruction in Iran, we must not ignore what Israel is doing in Lebanon. 1,461 have been killed. 4,430 have been injured. 1.2 million have been displaced. Israel now occupies 14% of Lebanon. Enough is enough. No more US military aid to Israel.

Regardless of whether it’s all talk, when the leader of our country expresses plainly genocidal intent, everyone has to do something. For citizens of all political stripes, it means rejecting this madness. For Congress, it means taking action to rein him in. Now.

I've taught European history for 30 years. Americans have always asked me how the Holocaust was possible, how Germans could have enabled a madman reveling in mass murder to carry out his plans. Now we can see in real time how this is enabled; now we have front-row seats.

#Trump may be commander in chief but this does not mean that those serving him in the military do not have any choice but to obey his orders. Anyone is responsible for his actions & omissions. If an order is grossly unjust and would be a crime against humanity, do not obey!

@SvenjaBehrendt Ja, wobei klassische Luftverschmutzung mVn ironischerweise tlw auch eher kühlende Effekte hat. See current debate on role of shipping fuel sulfur (->aerosols) clean up in the warming spike of the past few years. But maybe fireworks also release stuff w/ high warming effects (?).

1/2 Der Klimawandel ist weit fortgeschritten, die Zukunft von uns allen ist gefährdet. Und was macht die Gesellschaft? Böllert Unmengen unnötiger(!) Emissionen in die Luft, die das Ganze weiter verschärfen und (nun schon) gegenwärtig & künftig Einschränkungen erforderlich machen.

@meilaoban Hab ich auch gar nicht so verstanden:) Es ist nur ein Faktor, der mich angesichts der Lage einfach zusätzlich ärgert. Möchte das aber gar nicht darauf beschränken. Es gibt sooo viele gewichtige Gründe gegen das Geballere.

@SvenjaBehrendt Oh mir ging es gar nicht darum, das Geballere zu verteidigen, im Ggt. I'm entirely in fav. of banning fireworks; I was just surprised that they should have a quantitatively relevant warming effect.

@meilaoban denen nichts Belangvolles gegenübersteht, dem nicht in funktional gleicher Weise Rechnung getragen werden könnte.

@meilaoban Ist es auch, aber der enthält halt nicht nur krebserregende Stoffe sondern auch klimaschädliche Stoffe. Insgesamt hängen Luftverschmutzung und Klimawandel auch generell auf komplexe Weise zusammen. Unterm Strich sehe ich einfach diverse schwerwiegende Nachteile,
