@RhysMccole @ForgedForMac 2 screws at your ankle doesn’t affect mobility at all with physio. your dad should probably gotten them. I got 2 in the ankle and 2 below the knee. Fractured tibia above the ankle and fractured my fibula below the knee

My dad had a compound frature of tibia and fibula. Fibula is the only bone the body does not need. Hence we see pepole running with a prostetic single blade. That blade replicates the tibia or shin bone. No need for 2 blades as fibula is negated. The nailing my fad has had 2 screws at the knee. None at the ankle as surgeons experience was why put 2 screws at an ankle joint when they can cause problems with flexibility. Bone knlits approx 3 weeks. Healed at 6 weeks then rehab begins. Full recovery. Few years later tibia breaks. Leg still attached fue to nailing holding leg together. Compound fractures are bones breaking through the skin and automatically creates infection. Any nailing has a high degree chance of bones breaking if heavy force applied. 👍

@RhysMccole @ForgedForMac The rod is ran through the centre hole of the tibia normally bolted up with two below the knee and two in the ankle. The leg is healed around the the rod. It would take an extreme amount of force to rebreak a fully healed bone and bend a 10mm rod enough to break the screws
