Things I Say as an Irish VC That American Founders Need Me to Repeat "That's not bad." — That's the highest praise you will ever receive from me. "It's grand." The deal is fine. "Sure look, we'll see." That's a no. "I'd have some concerns." I have every concern. "Ah, it's a bit ambitious." Your projections are science fiction. "He's a great man for the talking." Your CEO has no idea what he's doing. "Ye did well now, in fairness." I am genuinely impressed. "There's no rush on it." There is enormous rush on it. "I wouldn't be mad about it." Kill the feature. "That's one way of doing it." That is the wrong way of doing it. "You're very good." You've done the bare minimum. "We'll have a chat." You're fckd "It'll be grand." I have done zero analysis but statistically most things work out. "Who's he when he's at home?" Your celebrity advisor means nothing to me. "That's some spend now." Your burn rate has personally offended me. "I know him well." I met him once. "Not a bother." This is an enormous bother and I'll remember it at the next board meeting. "Stop the lights." Your growth chart is either miraculous or fraudulent. "You're having me on." Your talking shit. "Fair play to you." Congratulations.

Too many onchain capital-market products confuse innovation with complexity. We do not need to rebuild every financial primitive, add governance layers nobody needs, or gamify workflows that already work. We need products that bring everyday and onchain-native users into the same system with simpler access, clearer ownership, better transparency, and privacy that is actually fit for financial markets. Before reinventing the wheel, builders should ask whether the wheel is broken and whether onchain rails make it faster, safer, more transparent, or more accessible.

Private capital formation may become far more powerful when distribution and participation are unbundled. Consumer and fintech apps can drive discovery and demand, while compliant onchain infrastructure governs eligibility, disclosures, execution, and transferability. I keep coming back to the same question: how might users of @avici, @arts_dao, @ether_fi, or @KASTxyz access private onchain markets in a way that is usable, secure, and fully compliant? We received an eviction notice in Dubai for our Villa. Being demolished and redeveloped. It's Al Nakheel Villas in Al Sufouh. A beautiful compound, kids can play freely, plenty of green, facilities, great community, Bar, pool... central location. Families come every year for Halloween for trick or treating as it's an awesome good feel spot in the center of Dubai. It's a real shame that they would tear up one of the last traditional home compounds that has character and 108 families have no choice but to move out. Kids are raging. No problems with moving. I just think it's a real shame to destroy one of the last well maintained, green villa compounds in the name of redevelopment. As you can see from the picture being one of the only green areas.

GM - Dubai is still undefeated for network growth and access. The people who benefit most from being here are usually the ones willing to invest the extra time offline: showing up, following up, and building real trust in person. A uniquely effective place to create momentum.

The dual token vs equity structure is probably the single biggest problem in crypto right now, and nothing but regulatory clarity will solve it properly and for good. In the meantime, transparency frameworks and investor relations like Blockworks‘ are the single best way to bridge the gap: making tokens more investable and rebuilding trust. My bet is that once we finally get the regulatory clarity we need, Blockworks will have established itself as such a critical instance that even regulators won’t be able to route around them. That’s what I call a moat.
