@Acolyte_1 1✅ 2🟧 3✅* 4✅ Fencing with generosity (towards others confessing a real presence) I personally think is proper for the Supper, but I respect different views. *An ecumenical exception once a quarter is fine.

Last night, on the Second Day of Pentecost, after many years of battling a brain tumour, my mother was received by her Saviour onto her final journey. In your charity, please pray for her repose and for our family at this time.

@timrwild That makes sense. Does this principle apply to corporate or private prayer? And how does it square with passages like Mark 9:38-41?

@account_plain Why is an ecumenical vespers service, for example, impossible? Lead by Lutheran pastors and choirs, attended by different Christians.

@SweChurchman The emphasis is public, corporate prayer. But I understand people must follow their conscience on a personal level.

I'll definitely be discussing this after its release. These issues are essential for the church to address, and I look forward to seeing what Leo XIV has to say here. Our leaders should also consider releasing statements or hosting gatherings of theologians and ethicists to discuss these vital questions.

"God found nothing more in the predestinated one on account of which He would elect him to life than He found in the Reprobate, except what He Himself was going to introduce by His grace into the one to be predestinated; and thus the predestinated one did not distinguish himself from the mass of the reprobate, 1 Cor. 4:7. Nor is there on the part of man any cause for the making of the decree of predestination." — Bl. Johann Hülsemann, Extensio Breviarii Theologici (15.14)

Now that we are on the threshold of peak wedding season, it is opportune to publish the following defense of a longstanding traditional practice that, in the confusion of recent decades, has sometimes fallen by the wayside but deserves to be recovered—namely, the privilege extended to the bride and bridegroom to be in the sanctuary itself during Mass. So far from this being some sort of innovation, it has roots that stretch back many centuries in the Roman, Sarum, and Gallican traditions. The article shows the evidence and explains the rationale. newliturgicalmovement.org/2026/05/why-at…

@TohuWaBohu57 @WmWeedon In Sweden in the 19th century, large areas of the north were very short on pastors. Congregations gathered in people’s homes, read from postils and the Bible and sung hymns. And then the priest came ~once a month to hear confession and celebrate the Lord’s Supper.

@WmWeedon What about during a plague or in a region where a pastor is not present, like the moon? You know, very rare circumstances? I know that the fellas on the moon weren’t Lutheran when they received communion, but, in theory, what would be protocol there, scripturally?

@WmWeedon Since there is no emergency Eucharist (Augustine: “Believe and you have eaten”) and no one is to administer the Sacraments unless regularly called (CA 14) it is wholly inappropriate if not ordinarily impossible.
