@David18192274 Outside income means no usda program? Nah man. I work a full time job and then come home and work another full time job. I’m no hobby farmer. USDA programs have zero- I mean zero effect on building the herd currently.

If they want us to rebuilds our herds they need to treat us like they are the US manufacturers. Hundred percent depreciation on capital expenditures and a tax credit. Exempt farm equipment from this EPA crap. Change the laws for our property tax and insurance cost. Fix the USDA programs, if you have outside income you can’t qualified for any of the programs! There’s literally zero incentive for us to expand or to retain, thinking about selling out and getting a wildlife exemption, like most of my neighbors have done..

I know this is off the wall, but for all the cattle sellers worried about getting screwed a $1 by the packer, how do they trust their order buyer giving them an order buyer sales slip, instead of the original sale barn invoice? Bet it costs em more than a $1 in a lot of cases.

With 10 year average basis of 28 plus on 650 heifer in March, tell me where I’m wrong not buying 2.51 put for same money as 2.32 lrp cost? Same for deferred but even better. Can’t find what lrp calls a 650 worth on their slide but heifers have never worked there for me. ?!?!?
