Fighting for safer streets in all neighborhoods of Salt Lake City. Don't let dark money take away SLC's streets. Resist SB195.

People need to keep up the noise about the attempted state takeover of SLC's streets in a coup led by Sen. Wayne Harper and pushed behind the scenes by wealthy real estate investors and other monied interests.
Here are some problems with the bill and reasons to oppose it. #utpol

When I say that every cyclist knows the intersection on the 9-Line where a driver injured my wife, I'm not exaggerating. Beyond our personal experiences, @SweetStreetsSLC regularly receives messages like this one (from November) about near-deaths while crossing West Temple #slc

Last week teed of a convergence of two things I can't stand:
First, a friend of mine became the latest person I know to get hit by a car in SLC.
Second, she was recently laid off and has been actively looking for a new job, so she's facing the wrath of the U.S. medical system (already bad enough) without insurance (even worse).
It is insane how GoFundMe has become an informal part of medical care in this country. Consider donating to help Liz cover the insane bills that will head her way soon.

If you’re going to have beg buttons in highly walkable areas, at least make your timing policy not put pedestrians at needless risk. @slcmoves

@SolutionsUtah Isn’t fixing this your core mission? Stop the mission creep and get focused.

@SweetStreetsSLC I don't understand why they wouldn't just start with widening Legacy *first* and see how that goes.

BREAKING NEWS: The hard work paid off.
“All of the reconstruction from 600 North in Salt Lake,” I-15 reconstruction project director Mike Romero said Wednesday, “to about 400 South in Salt Lake has been removed from the project.”

@NateForUtah @soy_sauce97 @slcmoves This is accurate and has been for a long time. It is the No. 1 complaint that SLC gets regarding streets.
English

@soy_sauce97 @SweetStreetsSLC @slcmoves we got an update from city leadership yesterday who told us (legislators) that by far the most-requested improvement/CIP request were traffic calming measures.
English

Bravo @slcmoves for this making this school crossing much safer for students. 👏👏
This is exactly the type of project that wealthy investors are trying to block via SB195.
If you want to help push back against anti-safe streets measures, get in touch.

ANALYSIS: It's time to think about a @RideUTA Trax station at 1700 South. #utpol

@praisethepicks @bikelakecity @slcmoves Things fall apart east of State, otherwise it's a medium stress place to ride bikes.
English

@bikelakecity @slcmoves I like biking on 1700 S. I've taken it from 1100 E down to Pioneer Road a few times. It's not a great street but the fact that it's slower from 300 W on east is good.
English

@SweetStreetsSLC Having a road that goes in and out of the city is kind of important.
I’ll be pissed if you destroy it.
English

@annonnnnnnnnnn1 Definitely recommend waiting a beat after the light changes. If the S-Line is any indication, drivers will run the red light for a while.
