Just some of the FIFTY Starlings in our garden this morning enjoying the fat balks and the bird bath, and only two adults! Also a fledged Jackdaw being fed. Don’t have to go far for great wildlife. @SwindonWS

Pleasant early evening trip to Whelford Pools with @PringleBirder rewarded with only my second Lesser Scaup. Also 15 Sand Martins NFY. Good numbers of Shoveler and Tufties on the water. And both Common and RC Pochard. First bats of the year too. #Spring #GlosBirds #CWPBirds

@simonw1940 in our team has been monitoring Reed Warbler nests at Swindon STW for many years. Yesterday we had a great bit of news, the 2 Reed Warblers in the picture were ringed on 2nd August. One of them was retrapped 292 miles south on the west coast of France on 28 September!

Completed #BigGardenBirdwatch with 15 species. 21 strong Goldfinch flock the highlight plus 1 Greenfinch. Yesterday an amazing 5 minutes keeping still to watch a totally unconcerned Goldcrest. Sometimes just 4 feet away @SwindonWS
