I bought this old (1973) unopened map for 50p. Not only is it one of my favourite areas of the country, the cover is fabulous. Anyone know the artist “HT” #curlew @curlewcalls

@WeHaveWaysPod Hi folks, old boy brought this up the pub last night (not his). Can't find any references on the Internet. Am I assuming it's a Dieppe veterans pin? Is the crab a reference to Sherman flail tanks? It was small about 1cm across. Thanks

Our Stonechat nests this year, we’ve had 2 predated. ZK’s nest was checked yesterday as birds should have fledged a few days earlier and unfortunately found all birds predated, with only their legs and rings left. We think the bottom left picture is poo, can anyone identify it?

The Salisbury Plain did it again. We ringed 240 birds including not 1 but 2 Nightjars! Also, the first Nightingale for a few years, Redstart, Tree Pipit, 3 Grasshopper Warblers, 40 Willow Warblers & 10 Garden Warblers. Brilliantly topped off with my first ever Brown Hairstreak.

Hi folks, In our area Siskins & Redpolls feed on larch but the larch is being felled due to disease. I want to encourage planting to replace larch. Those of you who live where Siskins, Redpoll & Crossbills are numerous can you please advise what trees these birds are feeding on?

As we find ourselves cut off from the world, isolated and standing alone, isn't it strange just how quiet all the 'back in 1940 we stood alone against the world and it was awesome' brigade are...

@MatthewOates76 I'm not sure Prince Leszek I, the High Duke of Poland, would agree. He got bumped off at a ducal gathering at Gasawa that year.

Saturn directly above a much brighter Jupiter low, in the SW sky this early evening. Tomorrow they'll almost merge (if it's not raining and there's not buildings etc. blocking the view), the closest conjunction since 1226. Don't worry nothing happened in 1227

It's that time of year when we reminisce on the work we have carried out over previous winters. All in aid of scrubland creation & creating thicker, denser & impenetrable scrub! A stark, shaded & ecologically poor area of woodland = transformed into a rich, bright wildlife haven!
