@DanielCllr Beautiful weather, kids off school, if you pay the parking at coate water the splash park is closed. The park at lydiard is closed. The @SaveOasis remains empty rotting away. When is someone going to ask @SwindonCouncil when they’re going to provide facilities for families?

@Heidi_Labour @jimrobbins My vote in Swindon was entirely a reflection of Jim Robbins & his teams poor performance over the last few years. Don’t presume why we didn’t vote for labour. Labour let us down both nationally & locally, I’m fed up of all of the empty promises from you all.

I’d like to thank @jimrobbins for his leadership of the council over the last 3 years. The results in Swindon are not a reflection of anything the Swindon team did. They are a message to people like me and my colleagues in Government to do better.

Today's results are brutal. People want us to deliver the change they voted for in 2024. The last thing we need is to descend into a vanity leadership contest. @Keir_Starmer is clear he will roll his sleeves up & deliver for the country. And in Swindon, we will play our part.

@MatRix14463751 Agreed, Might be naive but I’m trying to be positive & hopeful that we can have local people doing the best for our town by putting aside national party allegiances I’m mainly just pleased we didn’t end up with reform in control & bemused how the greens did so terribly locally

Could see decision-making slowing, ad-hoc coalitions, incr influence for minor groups more fights around budgets? Hopefully Lab/Con agreement around wider devo & econ plans hold. Need stability to progress this. 2/2

Not sure what this will mean for #Swindon. Conservatives both nationally & locally have supposedly ruled out deals with Reform. So minority admin 1/2

2/2 We suspect Seven Capital are waiting to see what happens on polling day, as ultimately the people in charge after 7th May will have the final say over any new plans, and whoever has the willpower to fully rebuild the Oasis Leisure Centre with a Hall.

@neilrobinson_88 @SaveOasis I just think if there was any hope of any good news coming soon Jim would have been very quick to sniff it out and use it as part of their campaign, remember the boasts of “saving the oasis” before the last elections, I think you’re in this for the long haul

@neilrobinson_88 @SaveOasis The wildly ambitious housing policies are a national target though set by the labour government, not the local labour authority Definitely reach out & collaborate with whatever local councillors we end up with just don’t expect a massive u turn from 7C after 9 months of nothing

@SaveOasis I’m struggling to believe this one. The oasis as it currently stands is a massive liability. It’s a run down decaying empty leisure centre. With the exception of apple for filming another dystopian post apocalypse tv show why would anyone pay 7C to take on responsibility for it?

@swindonadver An exciting announcement made in March or April ahead of an election should be ignored in Swindon. We all know it’s that time of year when our councillors show us their exciting plans and artist’s impressions they’ll bring to life in the next period. They’re cynical themselves

@mrcjstevens: What a joke! Housing isn't needed to fund the Oasis. The local authority is responsible for funding public facilities. @SevenCapital are trying to gaslight into thinking housing is needed, forgetting they had the lease whilst it was open & failed to maintain it!

We’d all be quick enough to moan if it wasn’t secure. Shame 7C weren’t so diligent when it came to properly securing our Oasis

Was there a good reason? There’s been 7 meetings since then, it’d be good for transparency to make it as easy as possible to see our council at work.

Look at what they said nearly 5 years ago - 7C need to start building now and they need to reopen an oasis before house building is considered. @SaveOasis @neilrobinson_88 Will claiming he’s very passionate about reopening the oasis. Since it’s been closed what’s he done to reopen it?

Will Stone MP was on BBC Politics West this morning saying he was passionate about the Oasis. He was asked why he didn't come to the fireworks display but said he was in bed by 9pm. However the fireworks were at 7pm! If you are so passionate, why didn't you come, you had 2 hours before bed? He was also on saying the council got it wrong about rejecting flats around the Oasis. Why? Its a grade II listed building and it would have been an eyesore! Build the flats across the road to pay for Oasis.

@swindonadver The abbey’s death knell is being rung. The oasis sits empty and crumbling, the wyvern is on its last legs, can’t get a dentist, regent circus is going, coate water parking facing huge increases. Let’s hear it for Jim and his youth club 🤷‍♂️ Roll on may, it can’t come fast enough

@DanielCllr Have the results from the annual residents survey been shared yet? Did the majority of local residents say the parking was underpriced and we wanted a massive increase? Or did we say the toilets are disgusting and Jim let us down by not building the new cafe he promised?
