At Kampala Diplomatic International School, students from different schools gathered for Uganda’s first game development hackathon, putting their coding skills to the test. The event was organized by Hack Club, a US-based nonprofit supporting young hackers.

The 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics saw the biggest contingent of Africans at the games: 14 athletes from 8 countries. Even if the continent was unable to come home with a medal, this marks a significant milestone in Africa's journey to becoming a regular at the event. The presence of indoor ice rinks and snow-capped slopes in the extreme North and South of Africa can permit these sports, but athletes and associations need to do more, such as relying on the diaspora community to promote training and participation in these events.
