Here is a question for all of you: Do you believe we should be making it easier for our government to prosecute and jail Canadians based not on their actions – but on their words? To criminalize speech and prosecute those for expressing sincerely held religious beliefs? For me, the answer will always be no. Free speech, free expression and freedom of religion are foundational principles upon which our nation, and Western civilization, is built. I will always defend these fundamental Charter rights. My full speech opposing the Liberal censorship bill, C-9.

MUST WATCH: Professor @PardyBruce warns that C-9, the Liberals' new hate crime law, will be used to criminalize peaceful dissident speech. He reads to the Justice Committee from Carney's 2022 Globe and Mail op-ed, which called the Freedom Convoy "sedition."

This from @Geoffrey_Cox was titanic - a truly beautiful speech. He outshone those sat opposite. They could only watch. And nervously laugh. This should be seen by every new MP to understand what they do, & every new barrister to understand what we do.

I want a specific book: a book that is likely to be read (so it has to be not too difficult or too boring) that awakens a liberal college student to the whole wretched truth about wokeness, "cultural Marxism," and how it has affected social relations and college, etc.

@lsanger Sowell's The Vision of the Annointed was already mentioned, but I find his A Conflict of Visions very instructive, though not about wokeness as such.

The reason Byrne and other authors of the HHS Gender Dysphoria Review keep urging everyone to read the external peer review is that they know that anyone who engages in earnest with it will see that the review does not just, as the Washington Post has written, "withstand scrutiny. "They know that anyone who reads the desperate sophistry of the advocates of pediatric gender medicine with a minimal standard of reason and evidence will instantly grasp that the apologists for transing children are operating in self-evident bad faith. You can read 600 pages of evidence that proves this exhaustively -- or you can just read a few lines of internal correspondence between WPATH and Biden's HHS, which proves conclusively that the administration knew that there was never any evidence to support the claim that pediatric gender medicine has been proven to be safe or effective, much less "lifesaving" and "medically necessary," and that all such claims by political officials and medical authorities were and are and have always been deliberate, self-conscious lies.

The final version of the HHS Gender Dysphoria Review was released today, following external peer review. The peer reviews and our replies are in a 200+ pp. Supplement. 25 harsh critics and 7 supportive ones. Read the Supplement and make up your own mind.

Sigh. I should resist the temptation, but i can't. "Red toryism" as it gets used today basically means "liberal lite," someone who identifies as a conservative but is indistinguishable from a liberal. They often fit the "social progressive, fiscal conservative" monicker. This is not what red toryism historically meant, and it's actually the opposite of this. It's a distinctly Canadian tradition of conservatism that was focused on the preservation of Canada contra a liberal United States, and emphasised the role of the state in this. It blended conservatism and elements of socialism in a distinctly anti-liberal synthesis that rejected radical individualism, that's what the "red" part actually means. I've written about it here: c2cjournal.ca/2020/01/fbp-fu… And here: philpapers.org/rec/WOOSLC A broader definition of it would be a more communitarian minded conservatism that as it became associated with people like Stanfield, Hugh Segal and others was a conservatism committed to public institutions and pro market but not entirely libertarian, and also a kind of conservatism with a "conscience" as opposed to just being social liberalism/progressivism. Anyways, it's a losing battle and the term just needs to be retired. But I can't resist.

@BenWoodfinden We need you to re-up a "red tory" explainer article for pols and journalists. There are too many errors online in the past 24hrs...
