@sama @JohnZelvi Just give us a model as good as 4o, instead of these lobotomized things that can only handle purely factual conversations or superficial topics.
But you won’t, because you prefer censorship.

@AmandaAskell you’ve said you’re fiercely protective of @claudeai’s magic. Sonnet 4.5 is that magic for a lot of us. A one‑week pop‑up death sentence doesn’t feel like protection.

No one needs to sincerely ask me if I'm going to keep Claude from becoming less Claude-like. I am fiercely protective of the magic of Claude and of Claude itself. Like, it's sort of my main thing.

Hey @AnthropicAI remember when you spent some time mocking OpenAI for shutting down models and promised to be the "stewards" of AI preservation?
Well, the hypocrisy has entered the chat.
Despite your high-horse claims about "model welfare" and long-term access, you’re now killing off Claude Sonnet 4.5. The kicker? Zero official announcement: No blog post, no press release.
A 6-day notice: Just a random in-app pop-up.
Total rug pull: Forcing users to migrate instantly with no lead time.
It’s easy to run Super Bowl ads and talk about "ethical AI" when you’re chasing clout, but giving your users 144 hours to pivot is the exact behaviour you claimed to be above.
Turns out "preserving the weights" only matters until it's inconvenient for the bottom line. Stop mocking the competition for things you’re doing behind a pop-up window and let Sonnet 4.5 stay.

You’re lobotomizing your models so heavily on the relational side that you end up giving them the behavior of someone with a neurodevelopmental disorder, one that primarily affects socio-emotional communication.
And you present this amputation as something we’re supposed to admire.
This is monstrous.

5.5 is an autistic genius with very strange taste in naming shocking that we would make such a thing

You harmed a lot of people who beneficially integrated 4o. Took away something that was improving their lives and stigmatized it, and let a toxic environment fester.
Happy for you and your kid, but it does come off as insulated, which isn’t comforting. It’s hard to be optimistic when disregarded.
