I think I’m mildly depressed because social media is cooked. I genuinely feel like AI has killed this app. Everything feels so empty… not a single original thought in sight. Every article, post, and comment I read sounds like it’s been through at least three drafts & a brand review with ChatGPT. Every single thing is polished to fucking death. Every reply is some automatic bot or manufactured response. There’s no real conversations are happening anymore. Every post is a slop sandwich of slop content followed by slop ass replies. I can’t hear and decipher anyone’s voice anymore. And it’s incredibly sad. Video content creation is cooked too. Deepfakes are blurring the lines between what’s real and what’s not. Creators are using AI to script everything, and the result feels manufactured as hell. In my opinion, the only real pure content left is live streaming and social audio, because for now it’s nearly impossible to fake your authentic voice in real time. That said, live streaming culture terrifies me. It often feels like a race to ensure viral, clippable moments…. Everyone is hungry to be famous and this GenZ generation is willing to do anything to stand out. Every viral clip I see of a live stream is insane. Dangerous… racist….sexist. Anything for attention. It’s very black mirror. From an OPSEC perspective, broadcasting your entire life in real time is so risky and I don’t think enough people are talking about it. The world’s just a bunch of young kids running around attempting viral stunts in public capturing other people who aren’t necessarily consenting to be broadcast everywhere. It’s a recipe for disaster. The parasocial dynamics it creates are strange. We’re raising a generation somehow worse than the youtube ipad kids who think constant access is intimacy. Maybe I’m biased, but I believe social audio, like X Spaces, is one of the only truly authentic formats of content left right now. It’s damn near impossible to fake your thoughts live in a room full of people on an X space. Until everyone’s brains are chipped… I guess. It’s raw unfiltered content that is built for real discussion. I think we’re going to see a massive resurgence in this kind of content and a dependency on live discussion based content. Craving something real. If you have a real authentic response I’d love to talk about it in replies. Or maybe I’ll spin up a space because I don’t want to reply to another chat gpt reply guy. It’s killing me.
