@Hansiguess @AnalyticaCamil1 Back when when they thought someone else is gonna fight it for them. Now that they've paid billions to Iran for a truce, restarting it fucks them over and makes it all for nothing.

@damascanmedusa Oh your account is back? For barrack, he's a funny ssnp grandpa, the less you know about the middle east the better tbh! I find western low effort diplomatic oriantalism completely disgusting, guy who just want something done and tells you what it is honestly is better!

@beyrouti @evanhill Revising now to (they had Syrian passport so they got deported there) as if that supports any of the claims you actually made!

@beyrouti @evanhill They never lived in Syria before that point, they were born in the US to Armenian parts they just happened to have inherited Syrian nationality from due to where their families were before migrating. Notice you're claim is they're Syrian nationalists which you're disingenuously

@evanhill Both are Syrian nationals who lived in the US illegally were deported back to Syria. The main guy with the AK talking is still alive and lives in Armenia also has a body building instagram instagram.com/creeper.gw.x3 According to the account the other guy died in the war.

@ilmalfalcon @AnalyticaCamil1 Yes they do they kinda always could just leave, let local actors handle the headache instead of figuring out a post war arrangement. The reason they're not doing this isn't because they're against such shameless behavior, but rather because they don't want to abandon Israel

@flavadflay @SnakeThatStings @nise_yoshimi He's more like an incompetent Atatuk who had an even harder job. If we're being fair here, I guess Wang Jingwei would've been the India (left) model of failure, ironically for all the exact same flaws as CKS on the right.

@flavadflay @SnakeThatStings @nise_yoshimi I mean, no, he's not that bad. CKS was a lot more willing to enforce social change to improve things he was simply stalled by needing to rely on the elites to find his unification and war against Japan (which he really wanted to avoid do he can focus onward)

@GhalebHabian I mean yeah but it can't enforced with conflict. Since the range of outcomes is worse than the issue. You'll see wars over water rights maybe, but fires can't be solved without just cooperation

@SyrianLib Nobody's saying it's a good or effective idea but if cooperation on this stuff just breaks down then what you're left with is scapegoating and a giant blame game. bad air quality stretching to many days = reduced productivity = a real cost to an economy.

@nise_yoshimi Managing a wealthy island like Taiwan competently with a huge amount of American aid is pretty different than rapidly industrializing a continent-sized nation like China. Chiang wouldn't have been able to do the latter without splintering China into pieces.

@Miyhnea I really really need Netanyahu to win his elections. Anyone else will serve to white wash Israelis blaming everything on one guy and getting off. Also only he can properly impode the country someone else might accidentally deflate the situation.

@ShamiArchives People always use "irrational" nonsensically to mean "I wouldn't have done that", and like yeah no shit, your position and current incentive calculations as an observer are nothing like the actor in question.

@ShamiArchives Rationality in crisis bargaining is a strict question of does Action align with what the actor seems to want to happen. If they wish to stay in power or even just set the entire world on fire, then starting a bunch of fires is, in fact, a rational move for them.

Many think escalation = irrational actor by default. In reality, what’s seen as “crazy” is oftentimes very rational, while being status quo is “irrational”. This is why I believe Netanyahu, despite his reputation, is more rational than the “rational” diplomacy maxxers.

@Iiuumn @SyrianShabab are ironically very new concepts that came around the rise of Arab nationalism as opposed to having any historical basis.

@Iiuumn @SyrianShabab Even later, Mesopotamia was tied to Persia while Levant to Rome, even much later medieval Arabic sources always talked about Sham and Bilad al Rafidean, never treating them as a single "region" The Idea of "the Mashriq" (or greater Syria if you're an Antoun Saadeh type of guy)

Is it just me, or did the guy deliberately decide to omit the Umayyad Caliphate, which was centered in Damascus? The level of hypocrisy is unbelievable 🤣
