We’re getting to advanced with beginning athletes. Teach fundamentals of movements so they can get a “Win” for the day, AND begin a journey towards movement and physical literacy. SpeedInsiders.com

Dale Carnegie | Influence & People Skills
This great contemporary psychologist has shown by experiments with animals and with humans that when criticism is minimized and praise emphasized, the good things people do will be reinforced and the poorer things will atrophy for lack of attention.

A legendary figure in Central Ohio Football. Coach Bill Conley held great runs as head football coach at London, Groveport and Dublin High Schools. As an assistant at ⁦@OhioStateFB⁩ he opened doors to every HS coach. Welcome Coach Conley to the CDFCA Hall of Fame!

Our speed testing has two purposes: 1. Project out 40 yard with a 30. We estimate the 30-40 split. Limits some of the risk of hitting maximal speeds early into the training process. This could be a whole post. I see people test laser laser strict to get slow initial times, then claim 0.5s improvement at pro day. So we give them 3 looks: laser laser, hand laser, hand hand. The first doesn't even happen for real, so stop lying to your clients. The 10-20 split gives us A TON of insight. 2. Determine Risk. S-Mas gives us a really good picture of their health, specifically around pelvic region. @wildy_jj quandrants via @StuartMcMillan1 give us insights into motor preferences and movement quality. Some correlations have been made with motor preferences and potential injury sites. This is extremely valuable information for our health team, headed by @danny_ruderock

Annual reminder, bodypart and bodybuilding workouts are big time wasters ( unless you are actually a bodybuilder). 2-3 total body workouts make way more sense than “chest day” or “back day”.

When I say I am “anti running”, Im actually anti jogging. Most of our clients do run but we discourage jogging as a cardiovascular pursuit. Also, all our athletes run but rarely more than 150 yds at any one time. Running =Fast Jogging =Slow Too many “speed limpers” on the road

From one of the best college 400m coaches in the country, @CoachErnieClark, commenting on Quincy Hall. "Maybe cross country taught him to be mentally tough and/or learn to work through fatigue better than others. And that’s a BIG maybe. But there are no significant gains from running cross country in high school that helped him sprint 43.40 and become the 400m Olympic Champion as a 26 year old." and... "There is no such thing as a *kick* in the 400m." ➡️ The 400 is a sprint. ⚡️⚡️⚡️

If you see a teammate behaving below the standards you’ve all agreed upon and you don’t confront it, you…yes, YOU are part of the problem on your team. Great teammates model high standards AND confront teammates who choose not to operate at those high standards! Be Great!
