In the early-to-mid 00s I'd go straight from working at an art gallery to the studio until long after dark, THEN take whatever I made & post it to the walls of Downtown/ Pioneer Square/ Capitol Hill, Seattle... just making stuff. no phone. no photos. except maybe this one📸👇🏼

Stained Unravel from @harmvddorpel is currently on view in his solo exhibition Senescenence in NY🎆. Conway's Game of Life asks: how many neighbours are alive? Stained Unravel asks: which neighbours, and what shape are they? Each cell compares its exact surroundings against a library of masks. "If top-left and top-right are square, become a triangle." Position matters. It's not counting, it's reading. That's why birth and death are consequences, not rules. This is next-level generative art you have to experience in person. Big update on @slopboptv I got each image animated and also added karaoke-style lyrics. So now I basically I just provide a theme for the singer, and get this "music video" generated as a video. MVP status reached! The process takes around 20 minutes on my 5090 card, which im pretty sure i can bring down significantly.. Also, yes, i completely understand the result is AI slop: - music is trashy - lyrics are too philosophical/vague - images are pretty ugly - animations not very exciting But now since i have the full "flow" i can just incrementally make each separate stage better while sharing the songs i think i should start posting these on tiktok too as an archive
