@SamuelHBlack It’s way more of a Momo deck than an angel deck (from an engine perspective, and there’s only one angel). Whenever you name it a typal name you imply that it involves more than one version of that creature.

There’s a literal Angel deck and coverage has decided to name it Momo? Do they not understand how many casuals like Angels? Are they trying not to trick people into playing Standard?

Totally agree with @fireshoes - while some homogeneity is inherent with online decklist dumps, it neglects to understand the utility to the community and content creation. Also contributing is the lack of GP level events - they used to help drive innovation and metagaming.

Share a metagame screenshot from mtggoldfish to scare Wizards! Oh no, the tabletop meta might be different! It didn't account for Larry's Unicorn deck at the RCQ! Oh, you mean the online results, because people change decks to play what they think is best? How dare they!

If you never hear from me again, it's because James Harden got traded to the Cavs and I decided to take a long walk into the Pacific Ocean

@SamuelHBlack Basically agree with the high-level of this take, but I think much of the complaining towards the cedh format is actually directed at a minority of vocal players who complain that a new card breaks the format or at what seem to be arbitrary ways to determine game outcomes.

One of the core strengths of Magic is its customizability. It’s many different games to many different people, but crucially, it’s not a different game for each person. Formats exist to converge approaches to Magic to unite different players in playing the same game.

MTG has lost the GOAT, and the game will forever miss his prescence. But for me, I lost a friend. He helped achieve my greatest triumphs, but ultimately, he wouldn't care if I was any good at the game - he treated all with respect if you deserved it. Rest in peace, my friend.

Magic: The Gathering@wizards_magic

We are deeply saddened at the news of the passing of Magic legend Kai Budde. His achievements in the game and community go beyond what we could say in one post. Our thoughts go out to Kai's friends and family in this moment. Remembering Kai Budde: magic.wizards.com/en/news/announ…

Hey all, did a fun interview podcast about many things (including Magic, game design, economic theory) with former MTG designer Brian Schneider. Check it out! (S1, E6: Ben Seck has played all the Magic youtu.be/BVuwoEgAC-g?si…)

@ndg_godfrey Appreciate the kind words, and definitely enjoyed the games and conversation. In person, Magic competitive play is so important in the increasingly digital world and its interactions with people like yourself that keep me coming back.

@TBSdash Absolute joy to play against you in the Limited Tournament Qualifier in Lyon. Such a genuine guy, and generally enjoyable to sit across the table from you.

I’m sure there was a hate draft, but I was mistaken about the card. I was UR wizards, and you took a Starstorm. I was playing ball by giving you thw Bane :)

I’ve recalled a lot of my favorite memories of Kai before, but he’s also a loyal friend. Drafting the top table to make my first PT top 8, and he saw @rhoaen hate draft Bane of the Living from me, and even though he was Rich’s good friend, he still gave him the bird for me. GOAT

Yesterday @Huschenmtg and I visited @kaibudde, who is unfortunately battling the only opponent he cannot defeat. He is still thinking about Magic and enjoys the stories and kind words people are posting about him. He had some old packs he wanted to give to the community, so whether you know him personally or as a fan, we welcome everyone to share your memories and stories with him below and we will pick some of you to send those packs to ❤️

@__OVC__1 @MatthewLNass This is a false comparison as nearly every major individual sport (tennis, golf) has ranking based invites for the top level. All US-based team sports almost never have relegation eg. the Bulls never have to requalify for the NBA.

Weird quirk of the current pro system: I finished 5th in poy, but could fall off the pro tour if I don’t day 2 the next pt.
