@david_seroy Off chain ABS and on chain BTC backed loan have different risk / price tradeoffs. ie they’re completely different products for different customers. IG rated ABS products are primarily going after insurance and reinsurance companies that legally require IG ratings to deploy.

🚨Bitcoin Backed Lending Rant🚨 I'm not trying to be a hater, but this isn't a big deal. It's very common for lenders to package loans together via securitization, get them rated, then re-sell or borrow against that security. This is a key function of credit securitization, secondary markets and general credit architecture which allows capital to be re-used or recycled. This process in theory taps into larger pools of liquidity which lowers interest rates and allows for lenders to take on longer maturities. In this case Ledn packaged thousands of BTC-backed loans (~11%+), got a rating (BBB-), then borrowed dollars against it from Jeffrey's. The rate is estimated to be 3-6% above SOFR. That translates to roughly 7-11% cost. For Ledn, the rates are less important than the access to a liquidity facility that allows dollars to be re-loaned out. However, go look at Aave or Morpho and see you can borrow against low-quality crypto-tokens for 3-4% at 95% LTV. So, imagine BTC-backed loans being originated on-chain, instead of off-chain via Ledn. Then, being able to package those together as Bitcoin Backed Bonds on-chain, then borrowing against that collateral at 3-4% in Aave or Morpho. What you realize is rating agencies and TradFi funding is structurally disadvantaged. You can do the same thing on-chain, with better trust assumptions (via BitVM style ZK Rollups), with cheaper rates, without the insane costs and friction of securitization. We will have low-mid single digit fixed maturity BTC backed loans, but they will be on-chain. cc: @BitPaine
