@safehandz @AndyGoode10 I thought the TMO had access to their own footage? That’s mental if not

@AndyGoode10 Listen to the start of this weeks Rugby Pod, amazed to hear that the TMO was asking for replays but the director was saying they didn't' have the angles. It's appalling and making the game look follish

@R_o_M Agree it’s harsh not to put him in the squad but Just feel there is more to the story here than we’re being told, quick google search looks like he had an extended period away. He could have easily told him he’s not ready to come back and I doubt it would have been a problem

@TC199111 Yeh. If he was going to play him. To get him to go to the other end of the country away from his family for a week only to not even put him in the fucking squad is horrible. Why would you defend doing that to someone? Leave him with his family if he’s not going to play.

@TheGriftReport Never understood why the BBC and ITV need to be in the country of the tournament to provide punditry, they aren’t even in the stadiums. Especially in Qatar where all we heard in the build up was that they shouldn’t host it - very hypocritical

Gary Lineker has taken another dig at the BBC over their cost-cutting "Work from Home" World Cup plans, saying he is relieved he won't be stuck in a green box in Salford this summer, the 64-year-old will instead host his new £14million Netflix show The Rest Is Football live from New York overlooking Times Square with Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, he told the Netflix Sports Club launch "I was originally going to do it for the BBC this summer but that didn’t transpire and I would have been in Salford in a green box and now I’m going to be in New York City overlooking Times Square with lots of great guests", Lineker was axed by the BBC last May after the Instagram row and has no plans to return for their coverage, Will you be watching?

@IamAustinHealey One rule that really annoys me in rugby. When teams get a penalty try, why do they also card a player. I get it if it’s serious foul play but surely it’s a double advantage - team gets the try and conversion, then also plays against 14 players for 10 minutes

Just watched game again and 2 big decisions were wrong. Genge yellow card was debatable but it wasn’t a penalty try. Then the penalty advantage at 38-39 that was changed to knock on only by ref mid play Led to BB ….hard done by?

It’s Carrick, you know. Can’t believe the chippiness from Scholes. It’s Carrick who's helping out the club he loves, stepping into the breach after Amorim’s meltdown. You can question Carrick's subs against 10 men. Amad could have been earlier. Heaven can play left-back - Malacia's so off the pace. It’s not Carrick's squad. Areas need strengthening, full-back, central midfield, probably a winger. You can’t question Carrick’s commitment. Carrick’s only intention is to help out Manchester United. It’s not about him. It’s about the club. It’s about making the fans believe again, proud of their team again. It’s about starting the rebuilding. United’s board are being very sensible. Give Carrick until the end of the season, get them in the Champions League, and then make a decision on permanent head coach. There's far more chance of getting an elite manager if in the CL. Carrick’s not perfect but at least he’s chipping in, not being chippy. #MUFC

I said it the other day and I’ll say it again now, Oliver Glasner changed Palace fans’ lives forever with the FA Cup win and because of that, I and everyone else in our fan-base will always be grateful. If he had signed a 3-4 year contract and categorically said he wanted to be our manager, I would be saying that this spell of 1 win in 15 should be ridden out by the club because of what he’s done for us but when the man himself decided 4 months ago that he wasn’t renewing and said weeks ago publicly that his mind wouldn’t be changed, it became an untenable situation. If he wants to continue in the role and be paid for it until the deal expires, he doesn’t have to aim digs at the fans and the club’s history along the way. If he feels the job isn’t one he can do well, he should have the good grace to move on before the contract is up. We may not be a “big” club, that doesn’t mean we have to be gaslit by the man in charge of the team every time he sits in front of the press, the fans are rightly sick of watching him lobbing figurative grenades into a room and shutting the door. If you’re in a marriage that’s no longer working, you can leave, no one is forcing him to stay.

Typically when Rodri speaks out football listens. He’s respected within the game not simply for his footballing achievements, Trebles, Euros, Ballon d’Or, but because he’s a thoughtful individual and a leader on significant issues. Rodri warned about the risks of over-playing and called on Fifa to address the crowded calendar. Manchester City’s captain has now spoken out about officiating following frustration, echoed by Guardiola, about decisions not going their way against Spurs, in particular when Solanke makes contact with Guehi in scoring his first. Rodri’s wrong and right. He’s wrong to claim some conspiracy amongst Premier League refs against City. “I know we won too much and the people don’t want us to win, but the referee has to be neutral,” Rodri told Australian broadcaster Stan Sport. Most players and fans believe the refereeing authorities have it in for them. All clubs suffer bad decisions. It's not a City issue, it's football. Everyone remembers the decisions that don't get their way, rather than the ones that do. Rodri deserves a short ban for his ill-judged comments. He needs to retract his suggestion that refs aren’t neutral and, in fairness, he does also mention his "respect" for them in the interview. Rodri’s an influential voice and it undermines the integrity of the league if such claims aren’t countered or withdrawn. His comments could dissuade those considering taking up refereeing. But when the FA censures Rodri let us hope they also listen to him. Because Rodri is right about refereeing standards. (He himself should really have received a second yellow against Spurs). It's not a great generation of officials, not helped by the demands and unpopularity of VAR. Rodri's also right about issues with VAR. That side of his outburst should be heeded, more investment made in refereeing and more of the in-game audio between officials released.

And how about the trouble with the Athletic being a constant Glazer mouthpiece? Only naive United fans can't see the spin here. It's not ex players who have destroyed the club over the last 18 months or refuse to sign players. #UnitedIsBroken
The Athletic | Football@TheAthleticFC

It was Nicky Butt who argued recently that it wasn’t fair for Manchester United supporters to direct their anger against the small army of pundits who used to play for the club. But it has become a problem. And it should be possible to recognise why that problem exists, even if you agree with everything they say. @DTathletic on the trouble with United’s media class. 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/69696…
