@Mr_Raichura Electric scooters are banned - certain parents still buy them for their children . Vaping under age is illegal - certain parents still buy them for their children. Some video games are age restricted - parents still buy them for their children. You can’t legislate for stupid

@ianaddison This penalises poorer families. They can't afford to take their kids away in half term. They then end up breaking the law by taking them in school time or can't take them at all! It's so unfair.

@adamboxer1 Completely agree! Unless there is a glaring obvious quick change that you know will make an immediate positive impact because you’ve been a HOD for over a decade beforehand …

The first job of any incoming head of department is to do...nothing. Take your time. Figure things out. Don't rock the boat until you've identified the thing that really needs changing. That applies to anything: booklets, T&L, starters, homework platform, admin...whatever.

Who knows what the children have seen on the news or heard at home this week, or over the coming weeks. When we get back to school we must show them the value of tolerance, inclusivity, empathy and respect. Right from day one, in every classroom. Show them what really matters.

Been getting a lot of hate on twitter for standing up against the right wing fascists currently terrorising innocent citizens across the UK. I will never stop fighting against fascism! Who's with me? To counteract the hate, post a ❤️ if you agree love is stronger than hate!

Nigel farage wants you to think that Britain has an immigration problem. It doesn't. Britain had a problem with millionaires hoarding wealth, egged on by politicians and the press. Britain has a problem with racism. Britain has a @Nigel_Farage problem. RT if you agree.

Axel Rudakubana is the 17 yr old Southport murderer. Black British Christian born & bred in UK. Not Muslim, nothing to do with Islam & NOT immigrant on small boat. Everything he knows he learnt from Britain. So all the bigoted racists have to weaponise now is that he’s Black. We know those riots were never about the murdered innocents. FYI Axel is a Christian name.

Maths teachers: How often do you answer questions "blind" in front of a class without already knowing what the answer should be? Particularly tougher questions where you don't immediately know how to do them?

@SwailesRuth I recently found out that a lot of teachers ‘have a tree’. This is the tree before they get to work that, if they crashed into it ‘a little bit’ then they would be in hospital for a few days. They wouldn’t have to set work. They wouldn’t have to ring in.

My personal “don’t swear on twitter” policy is being pushed to the absolute limit. I thought I might feel calmer after a night’s sleep, but if it’s possible I’m even more angry than yesterday. The coroner clearly stated yesterday that a woman ended her life because of the way a

@123FAdam @AhmedKhattabUK Absolutely agree that mini whiteboards in particular and cold calling help with formative assessment amongst a whole host of other strategies that I picked up on the EFA trial I was involved in, but it concerns me when the only written feedback a student receives is summative

@TCOLC_edchat @AhmedKhattabUK Responsive teaching and feedback from whiteboards and cold calling. There needs to be specific pieces that you mark in a year based on the concepts students need to understand from the way you sequenced your curriculum. Smarter not harder
