Terra Centre Eco Club

Terra Centre, we have collected 200 pounds of plastic which is now saved from the landfill. Keep it coming… we need 800 more pounds to save before we can melt it into our Trex Bench!

TC is working hard for their Trex Bench! 45 pounds logged today.

And that concludes worm composting at TC for the fall! Everyone made a counter top collection center or an actual vermiculture in-ground bin. They of course had to collect their choice wrigglers to bring home.

Preschool was super excited to finally harvest their pumpkins left to decay in the garden last year when studying pumpkin life cycle and reading pumpkin Jack. @TerraCentreES @fcpsGet2Green

Master gardener Mary Teague was at TC today to help us learn about native shrubs and attracting more life to our pollinator garden. @fcpsGet2Green

Today Eco Club helped relocate many Deer Mice (even tiny babies) today from our gardens. Though we were happy to see native animals we wanted to ensure their safety out of the garden beds.

Compared to the forestry report it appears that TC’s white oak has produced a much larger amount of acorns this year than other areas. Thank you TC students for bringing acorns to the collection center for the DOF! dwr.virginia.gov/blog/2023-acor…

Eco Club had its 4th session today. We spent the entire session prepping for the inground vermicompost bins. Food grade plastic was a necessity! @fcpsGet2Green

Well it was an incredible 2 week project for Terra Centre! Members from Eco club, SCA, Girl Scouts, our PTA and our whole student body helped make a difference with walk to school! 118 vehicles typically through K&R down to only 33 🙌 @fcpsGet2Green
