Our @AJCLatino Political Influencers delegation is in Israel this week. The group started in Tel Aviv, where they had meetings with Jewish and Arab Israelis to learn more about both communities. Then they went to Kibbutz Be’eri and the Nova Music Festival Memorial site at Re’im to bear witness to the October 7 massacres. The delegation also met with Argentinian-Israeli Luis Har, who was taken hostage by Hamas and rescued a few months later from Rafah. They were so moved by their conversation with Luis that they invited him to dinner later that evening. @AJCGlobal

When I left Congress to join AJC, I was drawn by the opportunity to spend every moment of every day working to help the Jewish people and Israel. Since October 7th, that work has given me, and my colleagues at AJC, the honor of spending an enormous amount of time with so many hostage families, joining them at meetings and pouring our heart and soul into helping them in every way we can. Today’s news is an especially shattering blow because we feel we have lost part of our family, and we mourn with their anguished survivors whose bravery has inspired us every day.

@seffikogen Now, do I fault those people for filing for PPP? I definitely do not. Many large companies too needed payroll protection, and this helped. But this era of news coverage is where the zeitgeist changed, and idea of forgiveness for loans came about, which is what you asked.

Did I miss the memo when you all decided PPP was a cash grab by the rich and not emergency legislation to protect middle class jobs, passed unanimously in the Senate (i.e. Warren/Sanders voted for it) and near-unanimously in the House (with only arch-Tea Partier Massie opposed)?
