In the first authorization for an open-ended strike ever taken by journalists at a newsroom owned by the secretive Alden Global Capital, the Southern California News Group union today announced its members have voted overwhelmingly in favor of striking. #SaveSoCalNews

WE ARE RATIFIED!!! This week, our unit voted overwhelmingly to ratify the first contract in The Desert Sun's nearly 100-year history. That contract, which will include an average immediate raise of 16.5% for all members, will now go into effect soon. Unions and strikes work!
