im convinced the only reason so many people went crazy for jack horner from puss in boots 2 3 years ago is because that’s the absolute most they can handle a “pure evil” villain before they start to get scared lol just a dickhead that blows shit up a little

@DynamoSuperX I'm gonna be daring today and propose that maybe we should accept that that'll be the case for many things and just simply stop giving a fuck about that

This is so funny to me as a Snyderfan who is a woman, queer, has trans friends irl and online, passionately hate ai and never sent death threats (well def not over films, a pedo president can die anytime for example)

IMAX is too cumbersome and expensive to use as a gimmick or a reluctance. Even if the, “standard release is the official version” line is true shooting on IMAX offers greater resolution, dynamic and color range. So even without utilizing the entire aspect ratio

You wanna do right by the creators and the fans? Well….you better get on estrogen then, Drew! 😤
Variety@Variety

#ProjectHailMary screenwriter Drew Goddard is writing and directing "The Matrix 5" and says "I can't speak" to whether or not Keanu Reeves is returning or not. "I can’t say too much, because we’re still in the stage of writing it. I need to give myself space to find the best story. I think the approach will be the way I approach anything, which is, do I love it? And I love what Lana and Lilly Wachowski did with those movies. They mean so much to me and I feel like they’ve had a profound impact on my creative voice. I take this responsibility very seriously. I feel the weight of wanting to do right by the fans, wanting to do right by the creators and wanting to do right for myself as a fan." variety.com/2026/film/news…

#ProjectHailMary screenwriter Drew Goddard says backlash against James Cameron's writing is unfair. "If you look at 'The Terminator,' it’s a profoundly emotional film. It’s not just about a robot who shows up to kill people. It’s about this woman and how she deals with this chaos." "From my point of view, for big event movies, there’s nobody better at structure than [James Cameron]. If you look at something like 'Titanic,' we meet two kids, they fall in love, we root for them, the ship hits the iceberg, right? If you look at 'The Abyss,' there’s a couple trying to put their marriage back together when the encounter this fantastic thing. Both these movies are about two individuals dealing with these big emotional things in the middle of wildly complicated situations." variety.com/2026/film/news…

@TEBerry2 Not really, this is a James Cameron thing. It's in her bio in Aliens. Not exactly the case as what it really implies is that she was born intersex and went through conversion surgery to "restore" her genitalia.

I think a lot of people (Barry included) are missing the point here that, essentially, in Hollywood, you have to make LION KING to sustainably pay your bills. That’s not a career.
The Ankler@TheAnkler

"Whatever the hell you need to do" is how to sustain a career as a director, according to Barry Jenkins. "I worked at Banana Republic for three and a half years while I had a deal at Focus Features and an agent at CAA," the Oscar-winning 'Moonlight' director and co-writer told fellow director Anu Valia ('We Strangers'). "It's the wrong business if you don't like taking risk." I think once Hollywood moves beyond this current stage, we'll see a new boom for smaller, original movies & attendance will skyrocket. "I'd love to see people under 30 get to have a camera in their hand & be left alone."

@FAshor86067 I have no idea. It’s barely touched on in the Snyder Cut but I assume it’s bc Whedon or one of the executives had their own ideas about where to take these characters from this point on but fell through after the fallout of JL17.

Let’s all do well to remember that Joss Whedon thought it was important to CG out a baby carriage out of Justice League. Millions of dollars on lips and baby carriages.

@TEBerry2 My take is that they should've never made the 5-year time skip. Make it last a few weeks as the Avengers regroup and rethink their strategy but don't create this biblical-level apocalypse that you are in no way, shape or form prepared to deal with the consequences of, long term.

Wish the Marvel shows got into the immediate and long-term effects of this. Like this is the equivalent of a superhero Rapture. Would there be Thanos cults? How did the government handle this? What happens to people who remarried or started new families? Power vacuums in crime?
cinesthetic.@TheCinesthetic

The ending of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) lands like a punch. The snap happens, heroes start turning to dust, and the theater goes completely silent. One of the rare times a blockbuster lets the villain win and actually sit with it.
