(EN/FR/NL) 🇺🇳 Good to sit down with Tom Fletcher @UNReliefChief this morning in Brussels. In times like these, regular contact between donors and humanitarian leaders is crucial. The reality is stark. Humanitarian needs are rising while funding is shrinking. Aid workers are being attacked at unprecedented rates. And the world's attention is stretched thin across too many crises at once. Belgium will not look away. Humanitarian aid is lives saved every single day. That is why we back our new Belgian humanitarian strategy with flexible, predictable funding over several years. Because aid organisations on the ground need to plan, not just react. We discussed our recent additional support for Lebanon. But I also raised the many forgotten crises that no longer make the headlines but where people suffer just the same. Sudan, the Sahel, the Great Lakes, Myanmar, etc. The cameras may have moved on, but the needs have not. In a world where the instinct is to turn inward, Belgium chooses to stay engaged. Thank you, Tom, for your leadership. The work your teams do, often at great personal risk, deserves far more recognition than it gets. Humanitaire hulp betekent elke dag weer levens redden. @BelgiumMFA

The fallout of war does not stop at the front lines. In the Middle East, rising fuel costs, disrupted shipping and blocked routes are slowing humanitarian supply chains – putting life-saving aid at risk. Humanitarian cargo must be allowed to move through the Strait of Hormuz.
