@HarrySmithPE This has worked extremely well and finding that our competitive students are winning more fixtures and learning about tactics in depth. I also do sport Ed model for the last 5 weeks to encourage wider responsibilities and discipline.

@HarrySmithPE We do 12 week blocks for our ‘competitive’ groups (ie football/basketball/netball) but for our ‘non competitive’ group we offer ‘ball skills/orienteering/fitness’ to let the group experience a wide range of activities. This way they can learn sports like handball, kin ball etc

Delivering units in PE for a longer period of time - 12 weeks rather than 5/6 lessons - seems to result in far more progress & mastery learning. Why don’t more schools adopt this approach? 🤔

@Grant_Oz5 @WannaTeachPE Handball and skiing! In fact, any sport that is highly likely or you know for definite won’t be on moderation day is worth doing. Most of my ski students got at least 15/20 for OCR and handball all scored 13 above. Last year trampolining and badminton were harshly marked.
