@chisaehawng Exactly. The floor for using AI coding tools effectively has gone up, not down. You still need to read code, understand systems, and spot when the AI is quietly wrong , which you can't do reliably without having written real code yourself

@THEADEKANMI Yes, but the question changed. Before: learn syntax and APIs. Now: learn to read code, understand systems, and know when AI output is wrong. You can't catch bad AI-generated code if you've never written code yourself. The skill floor actually went up, not down.
