All in all: Tonali very good generalist, who’s good at many things not elite at any. Think of a wayyyyy better version of Gallagher. Spurs have 4 midfield generalists already at the club (Sarr, Gray, Gallagher, Bentancur) We still have 0 specialist first phase midfielders. Why did we sign Gallagher on 250 grand if we now want Tonali? I need to see a clearer process from the club to be content. I don’t want our biggest transfer to be on a player we have 4 of already even if he’s better than them. I don’t think that means I have a big ego, I think logically that doesn’t make sense especially when we have holes at GK, both flanks, 9 and arguably even at 10.

I’m not an accountant for a football club but I’m sure the Johnson transfer would look like this on the books: - Bought for £47.5m spread across 5 years = £9.5m cost per year - He’s been here 2.5 years so would assume remaining book value = £23.75m - Sale of £35m comes in as instant injection so creates a “profit” of £11.25m - Forest also get 10% sell on fee = £3.5m - Spurs “profit” = £11.25m-£3.5m = £7.75m Looks positive on books for PSR so no concerns there for anyone worried about the fee
